More coming soon, I've just won some money in our local pub lottery.   ;D

I'm just planning a 4Ground order now! Some buildings but I feel that a stagecoach is de rigueur now!   ;)

Maybe some Mexicans too, oh, and the Foundry renegade Apaches.........................well, that's all the winnings gone!

The citizens of Hog Thief Bend get their water supply at last. Most of them are not too bothered about water as their liquid intake is limited to popskull! However, it might been that a new bath house will open in town.

A question for you Old West town historians, would the water being pumped into the tower be driven by a windmill?

Not sure how the old water tanks worked.  Many were just used for filling or topping up trains which passed by - but not one like you've purchased.  It never hurts to have a windmill (heck, I just have one to allow another sniper's perch!)

Greetings your lordship,

Your town is looking topnotch.

Regarding the stage coach - bought one myself - and must say when it is complete you will be very satisfied.  However getting there was a bitch.  I found the card stock seats were a pain in the ahem to fit - drove me nuts.

That is my only real complaint in the end I just snipped off the tabs and glued in place...

All the best,

Frank

You've talked me into it (as if I needed much persuasion!).   :)

Only done the chassis so far, might come to the interior later today, so I'll watch out, cheers. BTW, your blog is looking great, just reading it now.

..............at last. The stage coach comes to town. Mayor 'Diamond Joe' Quimby is wondering if horse rustlers have been at work again.

Really only three ways within the Old West period to fill that water tank that I can think of: gravity feed, windmill, or a stationary steam plant to run a pump.  Made me start to wonder about all those water tanks in movies and how they got fed.  Going to have to do some research.

Okay, after some quick research - nix the windmill except for stock water tanks.  Either gravity or a steam pump - and if the latter, inside an enclosed structure unless the very beginnings of the road or boom town.

By the way, if gravity fed, I don't think you need to add anything to the model because the piping likely would be underground - unless it was flume then you'd want to model that but it would have to be from an uphill source.  But at a very, very slight angle from level.  Your hilly background can easily suggest gravity feed - but also a very arid climate.

If monsoon season were a bit longer you could fill them solely with rainwater...but at a whoppin' three weeks a year, that won't do.

Nice lookin' ride your Lordship.  I do hope you are not like me though - I finished the stagecoach three months ago and horses, driver and passengers are still languishing to have the painting finished. Some day I shall paint them completely....

Thanks, Mason. I bought the set from Great Escape Games so you get driver and shotgun and two passengers plus four horses, just got to paint them but couldn't resist adding the coach to the town.

Thanks for that detailed response, Fifteens Away, some very useful info there. If the steam pump was enclosed perhaps I could just model a shack with a chimney?

Elbows, whilst making the water tank I kept thinking of Raquel Welch (well, who doesn't?) in 100 Rifles and those guys hiding in the near-empty tank.
