Thanks everyone, the foamboard made it incredibly easy to add the "lights", I just needed a pin.

Close-up pictures reveal that discipline at the shield gate leaves a lot to be desired.....

I'm not sure I want to know what you were searching for Mason , when you found those stormtroopers partying....

 

Excellent build thread of what must be the largest entry in any BSC so far. 

Honestly, it wasn't my intention to set any size records for BSC - it's my first go at an entry, and for me at least it's a pretty small build (at least compared to a 10' aircraft carrier or a 12' space ship). 

I have to admit the 1000 or so parts was a bit insane, but I got a bit carried away....

I did not have to search for them, they found me.
They are small small scenes from a huge mural at the Star Wars exhibition at the O2.

Spooky. By a strange coincidence I've just booked a night in London for my wedding anniversary, and the hotel is next to the O2.  I had planned on taking Mrs Akky out to a west end show, but I wonder if she'd settle for the Star Wars exhibit....

By special request, from various posters on pg12, here is a photo of Darth Vader reviewing storm troopers in 1/2256 scale - still a wip.

I don't know about the stormtroopers, but at this rate I'm going to be cutting it quite fine for painting the actual station....I've been away from home for work, since Sunday afternoon, and get back Friday night.  Hope to get a bit of time at the weekend if I'm lucky.

Back home, so on with the painting, no photos obviously.  Going to mess about a bit more with taking some photos with different background light - the previous light test was in pitch black (ie night time with no lights on except those on the station itself) - obviously won't use any trickery to alter the photos.

It's encouraging how many mentalists there are on here....maybe we should do a group build at some point, if we can agree a theme?

Final photo (of the painted model) sent to the BSC email...only issue i found was trying to get a sense of scale...next time, I'll pick something that lends itself to a 28mm figure...

...maybe a 1/55 space station

Next time, build it to 1:1 scale, then stand in it. That way we'll get a sense of the size of it. Going by your previous builds, that'll be a doddle for you!
