Great stuff Paul
Does the big hatch on the bottom open into a ramp?

Looking at it again, I think you need to call it The Beagle Dropship. ;)

Given it was rather made up as I went along it's more of a mongrel.  :)

Does the big hatch on the bottom open into a ramp?

The component I was waiting for, neodymium magnets, arrived this morning.  I now have a ramp that opens & closes:

Ideally I need to spray undercoat it this afternoon, but cold damp weather isn't ideal....  ::)

I'd hate to be the pilot charged with landing inside that hangar....No room for error!

Absolutely outstanding looking ship.  Would fit right in to many ship designs I've seen on multiple sci-fi shows.

Awesome!  :o
I really like the detailing.

But to be honest the uneven lines of the front bothers me to no end. It looks like he is snarling though :)

Human eye is a bastard for parallel lines...  I bet if you measure the asymmetry it'll be something like .5 of a mm.

Still looks great though!

Thanks for all the kind feedback.  :)

The ramp looks great :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
Makes sense of the higher front gear
It's the reason it has the nose high position.  Otherwise, to give the exiting troops clear headroom (longer rear gear) it would look even more ungainly and have a ridiculously steep ramp angle; more like an escape slide!  It also somewhat mimics the mantling of a bird of prey and (at least in my mind) looks a bit more "tactical".

But to be honest the uneven lines of the front bothers me to no end. It looks like he is snarling though :)
It isn't apparent on the model.  I think it's the camera perspective that gives the illusion that it is a bit wonky.  That 'head-on' pic isn't truly in line; If you look at the gear position, the rear is slightly offset to the left.  In reality the centre pillar of the windscreen is completely in line with the centre of the top engines.
