I bought some of Blitzkrieg's 1/56th vehicles. Warlord's models of the same vehicles had better detail, with Blitzkrieg's seeming overly thick in areas. I'm keeping my eye out for when they eventually convert their T-55 into 1/48th (why they made it in 1/56th originally I've no idea), as Tank-Mania's is far too expensive for wargaming (that whole site seems more aimed at the 1/35th crowd). ...Not to mention the smaller details on those Tank-Mania kits being rather brittle (half the track links on that Acacia SPG I bought from them wound up broken, even with me being careful).

I remember someone (Captain Blood?) asking about their Matilda, I will have a look for the comments.

I asked about the modern stuff as it appears to have been designed with a 3d package.

I suspect they brought out the 1/56 to match their existing WW2 line and will do them again in 1/48.

From the renders, the Centurion looked okay (though the angle of the turret was a bit odd) but the IR searchlight on the Chieftain looked odd. It might be because I am used to seeing a thermal sight in that position.

The T55 and the T34/85 would be useful if they are any good.

Thanks Carlos, but actually since posting that question, I did subsequently go with the Blitzkrieg Matilda - which was good, because it turned out to be a very nice moulding indeed

based on their original requirement they were sane (and the T-95 was better than some of the things ordnance was  coming up in the period... okay... they were very narrow-minded project... certainly they look better than the TOG from an aesthetic perspective!!!

SASM master all their own models I believe. Personally I feel that company gets a lot of undue hate these days. Their older models weren't of amazing quality (though yeah, miles better than Butler's), and that may have tainted people's opinion of them. I assume then that's led people not to follow their newer releases (like the ones I posted earlier here), as they seem on par with what Spectre's been releasing. Though the lack of metal pieces does lead to some parts being chunkier than they could be.

I'll need to pick up some of their newer bits and do a proper review some time, though even their Russian Falcatus which was released a good while ago seems pretty good to me (though I also have one of their Toyota jeeps, one of their first modern releases, and I can't see the issues people are talking about).

As part of a developing campaign, I needed a character figure. Hasslefree do a figure called "Madge" that I thought would be suitable.

So here is Codename "Brenda".


"Brenda" is armed with a custom shotgun with flechette ammunition and is wearing body armour.



She is wearing a headscarf given to her by one of her grand sons.


"Brenda" reloads while supported by two Empress SAS operators.

A Crooked Dice policeman.

The uniform was undercoated with Citadel Chaos Black.

It was then dry brushed with Vallejo Black Grey.

The badge, top spike and whistle were highlighted with Citadel Mechanicum Standard Grey and a final dry brush with Citadel Ceramite White.

I do need to have a quick tidy up of the base.

Up until 1994 they were made of wood, but the then Home Secretary was concerned the police might sharpen the ends to use as stakes... ^__^

Actually, that might make a good conversion.
