I went through the album again and just kept finding new things that I like, the boat tailed car, the vintage batmobile, the trolley, the kids playing marbles, the boy on the scooter, etc. etc. Just grand! I assume that it is you in the cameo with the Staypuft Marshmallow Man  lol
Definitely worth going back several times. My only complaint is that there is no China Town, get to it man get to it  lol I expect it up by next month lol

Great stuff.

What amazes me most is the time frame in which you churned it out. Truely amazing.

While I'm a tad late posting here, I had an early preview of this photo set up (no, not in person, more's the pity).

The man, the master, the magician - Richard.

Superlatives are so insufficient.  Speechless is the best comment with a certain staccato religious comment coming in at second place.  So, I'll only add: Holy -- freaking -- fecal matter!

Richard, why don't you work for a museum?  Or why hasn't your daughter got you involved in building a set for a movie?  They could have done a scene for La La Land in your setup.

I must ask what can possibly be next from this fecundly fertile imagination?  Whatever it might be, it is certain to entertain and cause a variety of mandibular joints to need lubrication.  No doubt, sirrah, no doubt.

Thanks to all for taking the time to write and for the generous words.

marinas_gamer, I love the details; great fun in the finding, and that gray haired guy with the Stay Puft Man is me.

FifteensAway, fortunately for me you are never speechless and my vanity glows in the light of your kind words.  Remarkably you have discovered the truth about my daughter.  She is an artist with one of the major film studios in LA and has designed film sets.  But for my productions she is the artist's eye behind the camera and I design the sets/layouts... she makes them come to life in her pictures.

von Lucky, I'd love to be a coffee table book author but alas...

Please believe that my pleasure in and appreciation for all your very kind words is most sincere.

Richard

I intended to include in an earlier post a couple pictures that reflect the source of my backgrounds murals for this gallery, but alas I forgot, so I’m posting them now.  The background piece was originally one of two supports for a wooden game I picked up at the swap meet a few years ago.  The supports are approximately 22” tall x 13” wide, were mounted on Masonite board and came in bright primary colors.  Unfortunately, I have no idea what the original game was called or who manufactured it… just a lucky find at the swap meet.  The primary colors reminded me of Dick Tracy.  My initial plan was make photocopies of them in color and black and white and have a daytime phase of the gallery with color background and a night phase with black and white backgrounds.  That idea was dropped when it became obvious that the color backgrounds drew too much attention from what was happening on the table and the black and white backgrounds blended in really well with no distraction.  The photocopies were mounted on heavy cardboard which itself was covered by black railboard (heavy construction paper) with the photocopies mounted on the railboard.

Vagabond, thank you for taking the time to write and for the high praise.  The collection and planning phase for Gangsters began nearly a decade ago, and along the line expanded to include the "And Stuff" elements.  These projects of mine often run over years, and it is always surprising to me that when the time comes to put them on boards/tables to be photographed they actually come out looking a lot like what I envisioned years before.  Really glad you enjoyed it!  Richard

Matt, "Bookmarked" and "inspiration" are two of the nicest things I could hear about one of my projects.  Thank you.  Richard
