« on: 02 April 2017, 06:05:49 PM »
Need a few of these, but don't know what might be out there. Can anybody point me in the right direction?
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

2019 Painting Challenge :

figures painted: 57
9 vehicles painted
4 terrain pieces scratchbuilt

em4 do plastic orcs that are dirt cheap, three different figures that can be bought singly or in packs of 20 or 50 of the same figure. Not for everyone but a good cheap way of building a unit. :)

Loads of GW plastics on ebay.

If you dont like GW, look at mantic games.

There's also Shieldwolf Miniatures orcs.

Do you want HIPs style plastic, or maybe look at Bones or something like that.  I have a bunch of spare Wargames Factory sprues, but their Orcs weren't their best effort.

High Impact Polystyrene.  Model plastic, GW plastic, hard plastic.  Real plastic; a man's plastic :D  Glues together with polystyrene cement.

As opposed to ABS, or restic, or Bones plastic (vinyl), Airfix-figure plastic (polyethylene) or any of the weird and wonderful concoctions that you can get these days, and which usually require something between superglue and prayer to glue parts together :)

Thanks chaps for all the suggestions and info.
What I need is something to fit in with this plastic miniature. I think he may be a goblin rather than an orc, but I don't know who made him.

Thanks in advance

I believe that's a Gretchen (space goblin) from Space Crusade (MB with GW).

Are they still available? I have looked on GW's website but I can't make head nor tail of it, it seems to just push you towards buying their newest stuff, the search facility won't even give results for the simplest request, ie "plastic orcs"

Negative, GW guts their old lines as soon as something replaces them.  The art style has changed dramatically.

Are you looking for fantasy or sci-fi goblins/orcs? The style you've shown there is very late-80's-early 90's.  Much like you'd see in an original copy of Hero Quest and various other board games of that era.

My purpose is to use them for SF but I don't mind fantasy as long as they don't have chain mail or helmets or look too medieval, as I can convert.

As previously stated these are Space Crusade monopose space goblins (Gretchin or grots)

They regularly come up on ebay alongside equally wacky mono pose ones from other manifestations of early 90's GW plastic tat.  Ebay is definitely your best bet.

Thanks Jon, I just managed to buy some of the exact ones from a member on here, but I will keep my eye on ebay from now on to see if there are different poses in the fantasy line which I can use and convert.
