Game of Thrones, my mini project
« on: 06 April 2017, 12:39:39 PM »
Howdy Ho guys,

Second topic for me to show you the beginning of a small troup of Lannisters.
I used Gondor LSDA and WOTR Perry (yes, not so original, I know)
Please sorry for the pictures

I can see the appeal, and I never do much like the realisation of the Gondorians in the films, apart from the Ithiien rangers etc. As for archers in 1/2  and 3/4 armour, and enclosing helms. Honestly.
BUT
I DO like your Westerosi take on them. I'd go one step further and change the shields - they are too ideosyncratic. Kite, heater, or even oval shields would match. The more wearable armour, the less you needed a warboard to take hits. They are easy enough to come by and would give them a more pseudo-medieval and less fantasy feel.
Having said all that I do like your archers, especially the sensible open face helmets and the unarmoured heads.
Warriors dreams, summer grasses, all that remains

Thank you for your honesty
For the shields, I'll use others in the next minis but i dont have many of them so i keep them for lords and captain

So maybe I'll sculpt them to look oval or change it with late roman shield but i agree.

Fine, they'll do handsomely for the Sers!

Hi Askellad,

you could very easily do a mould of the shields and cast all the shields you need.

Those Perry head-swaps onto Perry WoMT do quite nicely!!  Looking foward to seeing your paint on them.

I've considered using Uruk Hai warrior heads as a basis for HBO style Lannisters, but I hadnt seen the potential in Gondor warriors for armoured bodies.

Exactly!
I hadnt seen that picture before, but its pretty much what I have in mind for a small Lion Rampant Lannister force. Either a few lines of black paint across the chest, or some tiny greenstuff lines if my modelling skills are up to it, and they're spot on for the HBO look.

Looks like you are off to a good start! I feel the heads of some of the starks are to high on the bodies, as if they had double necks. The heads with Frostgrave barbarian heads. I think you could shave the necks down on the heads quite a lot to better match up with the Perry bodies.
