Heroclix: Star Trek Away Team: The Original Series
« on: 08 December 2017, 09:31:30 AM »
Heroclix have released/are just about to release Star Trek Away Team: The Original Series figures - link

There's a starter set and the usual booster packs. No idea how they'll look alongside other figures, but there looks to be a good selection of figures planned.

I wasn't aware Heroclix did any Star trek figures, so I may track some of them down.

Thanks for the heads up.

I knew Wizkids did figures for the Reboot films but had no inkling this was coming.

Wonder how Modiphius feel about it?

I really like Heroclix figures.
They are easy to repaint and rebase and can be a good source of civilians and random characters along named super heroes.

The paint jobs are always atrocious - that's what acetone is for!

Good to see these.

Sadly, not enough Klingons and Romulans for my liking, though.

Still, good to see a nicely sculpted, prepainted option, for a change.

Anyone know how big they are?

Would be nice if they're compatible with other Sci-Fi figs.

What, all those duplicate sculpts and reused dollies and no Harry Mudd?  No Cyrano Jones?  No White Rabbit or Alice or Finnegan?  Boo!

At least they got Janice's hairdo right, and gave us an Uhuru in her Mirror Universe outfit.  The Gorn captain hucking a rock is pretty good too - needs to show up in a regular Heroclix game alongside Killer Croc and facing off against animated series Batman.  "I threw a rock at him!"

Yea, a pity about Mudd and his women, though given recent events, I can see why that may be a PC concern for some.  Still, we got the Orion girl, so.......

Very disappointed there isn't another Gorn figure, or three - seems to me they're missing out on one with a dagger, and other crewmen armed with disruptors/hand phasers/laser rifles.

Also, very disappointed that there are no Klingon or Romulan crew starter packs.  Also really need a Federation "Red Shirts" pack.  They're missing major sales on those, I suspect, which would sell tremendously well to gamers.

They could also use a Rigelian and Vulcan pack too, and a few more seductresses, e.g. T-Pring, and some of the others.

Problem is, I assume this and other collectable game lines aren't aimed at "gamers" who want to build up squads.
The whole collectable thing annoys me..obviously it's only to drive up sales. What other product would you even consider "buying blind"?

I only did that with the Microuniverse Doctor Who range when it started being sold off cheap and I could afford the inevitable wastage.

A shame about the rare and super rare figs.  Those policies by manufacturers really annoy me too.

Hopefully, something similar will be available as an option for those, instead, for people on a budget.
