Build Your Own Super Hero - Wargames Factory
« on: 18 April 2009, 09:35:56 PM »
A little while back a suggested a build your own super hero sprue at Wargame Factory.  It finally got posted today.  If your interested go pre-order some sprues so we can get some custom supers.

I love the idea, I just wish I had more faith in Wargames Factory to produce a worthwhile product...

Nothing I've seen from them so far is anything that I would want to spend hard-earned money on. If someone who prioritized quality sculpting were to produce a multipart superhero sprue I'd be in there like a shot.

This will be a tough assignment for them. So many ways you can go. So many styles, shapes, and sizes to choose from. If they do make it into production, I wish them the best! I'll be interested to see the results.

I think it's got to be as generic as possible.  Like just capes and tights with the options really being the heads, boots, and hands.  If it has too much detail you can't make as many unique characters or you fall into that scary IP infirngement land.  This would be more for modders probably, which oddly I''m not.

Leave the more detailed supers to guys like you.  Been pushing Super System over on Heroclix Realms by the way.  I post on your blog as Rev. Jim.

Judging from their previous poorly sculpted rubbish this will go no where. Sorry guys, Wargames Factory are like the needy little brother's friend who wants to be liked and does everything to please but just ends up being an ill concieved pain in the arse!

Have you actually seen their product in person?

Yes at London Exel Salute 2009, poor sculpts, poor casts, seen them put together too, poor fit, flash lines etc..

Have you? Or are you just relying on renders like the rest of the internet 'experts'.

Put the zombies together by hand. They're not the best, by any means, but they're hardly as bad as you make them out to be.

They are appalling, underdetailed, overflashed, poorly conceived and just not there. I don't want 'blob' fodder I want well sculpted and well executed miniatures. These aren't sorry.

So in conclusion....Erm yeah they are....next caller please!

Agreed. And yes, I've seen them 'in the flesh', too.

Following this thread I just went onto the league thingy for a gander and much to my own amazement, I am certainly not a fan of anything I have seen so far, I placed a couple of pledges.

Hopefully, by the time enough people actually add enough to mine and the proposers desire for Ming Chinese the quality will have improved an awful lot. I think they should have about ten years to try ;D

Oh, I'm a crappy painter, but send me a digital camera and you got yourself a deal. Since I only have a crappy cell phone cam.

For a current example, I think this guy did a better job than I could:
