And some more... The sculpts on these are great, but the casts are not as good as I would like. Not a candle to Claymore for example. Bit dissapointing really, and makes them a bit less fun to work on.

Still, eight more warriors done, I now have something of a playable force. Next up, and last for this, eight mounted hearthguard and a mounted warlord.

They look quite good - nicely dynamic sculpting and I like your paint jobs!

Looking brilliant! I love Matt Bickleys dynamic way of sculpting miniatures, and they work a charm with a nic epaintjob like this.

I agree on the casting quality though. I think it was a bit of a rush to cast everything for Kickstarter backers (I am one of them)...but there a lot of flash and unfortunately a good bit of fudged up faces (especially those wearing helmets). Its odd, because normaly I find Footsore castings to be quite good (even though Antediluvian, doing some Matt Bickley medievals too, is a whole lot better)

And done! Managed to finish the last of the Viking Age welsh with hours to spare in 2022. I have already complained a bit about casting quality of this range of miniatures, so I will just quickly point out that horses have been swapped for plastic horses from Victrix gaul cavalry set. Fortunately I had used up the riders from this kit elsewhere and left the horses. Some carving and sanding and riders were able to fit on the plastic horses. Javelins and shields and also plastic, from Wargames Altantic's Irish sprues. I couldn't resist giving the Warlord the spiffy commander shield from there, probably incredibly historically incorrect.

Well, new year and new project. I was very much inspired by Koyote's and Knight-captain Tyr's excellent Pagan Rus projects last year and had an eye toward something similar. When I started my Rohan project I knew I would have a lot of victrix foot troops left over and so this project is a step towards using some of them.

I've also been playing a lot of Mount & Blade II Bannerlord this last year (as mentioned in my fantasy thread) and one of my two prefered factions to play is Sturgia, very much a Rus-inspired culture.

So with that in mind I decided to get started. It seems the Pagan Rus in SAGA is a relatively elite force, prefering hearthguard and warriors over levy, so this might be quite quick.

These last few days I have managed to kitbash a warlord and four hearthguard, using a variety of Victrix and even Wargames Atlantic parts. I see a lot of Rus figures have mustaches rather than beards so I even used an anglo saxon body amoing the vikings. Also a dacian body and some cloaks. What do you think, does it work?

The green stuff work is seriously impressive. That Cossack hairdo on the warlord is top tier.
