Just a few more done. This is pretty much it for the easy ones now, have to spend a bit more time on the rest.

Do you paint the edges of the pennies? If so, is varnish needed to protect the paint?

I do and yes although they need touching up every now and then. Not a massive problem though.

Just normal 25mm x 50mm ovals I’m afraid

I always think ashigaru are visually just as much of the appeal of a Japanese army as the samurai are (quite apart from being more important in army composition). Like those.
