Is there a ACW board? If not, could one be started.

Hi guys,

you can discuss the American Civil War in the old west board. That will suit it.
I will move this topic from the Triumph and Tragedy board to th OWB !

Cheers

I don't agree with that Bjorn, ACW is a major period in wargaming and so surely deserves its own board.

Well, we don't want it to turn into the board madness that TMP has become. Although if one really would be important, it could possibly be set up as a childboard?

If people can just clearly state the period in the titles of their post, it should be fairly easy to find want we are looking for in a specific board. I agree that ACW is a major period in wargaming but it is also true for a lot of other periods and if each one have their on board it will all became chaotic pretty soon…   :?

A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

Just because it is a major wargaming period, it doesn't follow that it should automatically have its own board here. We have nothing for Ancients or Napoleonics, they fit snugly into "Other Adventures" without any bother.

I think we should only consider new boards if we are getting a shedload of topics on a particular theme. And as far as I can see, we aren't exactly snowed under with ACW posts.

I agree with White Knight, we don't want to go down the road of board proliferation madness that some other places have.

I agree, this forum attracted me as it is different to the others, i.e. it focused on periods that aren't as mainstream.

As this is the start of an ACW board(ie-like thing), here's some pictures of our weekend, a three day event about the battle of Antietam played by and in the clubhouse of TSA (Tin Soldiers of Antwerp)

I was asking if there was a ACW board, as I couldn't find any topics for the period. If the Old West board is fine for ACW, that is where I'll post and look.

I enjoyed your pictures Johan, thanks for sharing.

Great pics Johan. You guys have massive armies - very cool. I love the wounded wagons and stretchers. The video is a good idea. How big is that table you played on? What brand of minis are they and what rules do you use? It is a shame that no one plays ACW in my club  :(

table was 12 foot wide and 18 foot long on two tables which were put seperatly for gaming, Our arms are normal sized so the maximum reach is more or less 3 foot,

figures were a mix of Perry metal and plastic, Dixon, Redoubt and Foundry.

This is a one man army, the result of some 20 years of painting.

This was our second weekend of this kind, last year we gamed parts of Gettysburg.

Results this year were : Two minor and one crushing victory for the Rebels,

Rules that were used were Johnny Reb III.

There is no logic to this position at all, as you could make a case equally strongly for just having one board labelled 'Adventures' and put everything there.

It really doesn't matter if we add one, or a hundred and one boards, each of us only looks at what interests us or catches our attention.

I would very much like to see an ACW board,

David
