CoC 29, Let's Go! campaign (updated 26 07 20)
« on: March 22, 2020, 12:32:33 AM »
A first outing for my American platoon in this campaign for Chain of Command set in Normandy shortly after D-Day. The 175th infantry regiment from the 29th Division is attempting to push inland and link up with the landings from Utah. There's an initial post on the blog about the extra pieces I've put together for this campaign, including the Marder I posted earlier. You can see all that here https://thetacticalpainter.blogspot.com/2020/03/getting-ready-for-29-lets-go.html

Here's a few of them. First up I wanted to create some flames for a man pack flamethrower. Always a great way to illustrate the action in the AARs.

An AFV is a harder target if it moved flat out in the previous phase, something can be easily forgotten when calculating the hit result and so I wanted to find a way to mark that on the table and thought these dust clouds would work well.

In a similar way I wanted to find a way to mark various things that could happen to those AFVs in a way that would blend in more with the table and so came up with various markers using bits from the spare box:

I needed to add some extra M4 Shermans to the mix and a second Marder to make sure I had all I needed for the campaign. I got creative with the second Marder and made up some foliage camouflage.

We've also started the campaign and played the first scenario Probe at La Cambe. The first blooding of my American platoon (even if I hope to do the blooding, as in this campaign I'm actually playing the Germans). A full AAR here https://thetacticalpainter.blogspot.com/2020/03/29-lets-go-scenario-1-probe-at-la-cambe.html

With the easing of restrictions here in Australia it's been great to get back to some face to face gaming and more importantly get our 29, Let's Go! campaign for Chain of Command back up and running. The Americans cut through the Germans like a knife through butter in the last game, so can my Germans put up a stiffer fight this time around? The full AAR is here http://thetacticalpainter.blogspot.com/2020/05/29-lets-go-scenario-2-delaying-action_30.html

Thanks. It's these campaigns where CoC really shines. I find it's a rule and campaign system that delivers a really enjoyable (and plausible) narrative.

Enjoyed the reports of the first two battles, as I knew I would. Your campaigns are legendary!

The US 175th Infantry Regiment have to clear a village on their flank and the site of ‘mobile 88mm guns'. So far the Germans have been unsuccessful in stalling the US advance, will they be any more successful here? Full AAR is here http://thetacticalpainter.blogspot.com/2020/06/29-lets-go-scenario-3-flanking-st.html

We now reach scenario 4 and after three defeats the Germans are in dire need of a victory to have any hope of stalling the American advance. Luck certainly hasn't been on their side, but could it change this time? The full AAR is here:
