And these are all my various armed civilians.  The boys on the left are my Africans, all MoFo metals.  The guys on the right are Brigade Games metals (from their DrugWarZ line).  The fellers in the middle are my kit-bashed Wargames Atlantic Resistance plastics (except for the lady firing the pistol - she's a Warlord metal).

And here are my various 28mm law enforcement minis.  The US patrol cops are Crooked Dice.  The SWAT team is from Steve Jackson Games.  The Feds are Brigade Games and Spectre.  The Policia are Brigade Games.

The vehicles are all diecast.  Please note I have some figs coming from Offensive Miniatures that will crew the ambulance.

And here are my unarmed civilians, all metals.  And all Spectre, except the clergy.  The priest is Warlord, while the minister is Footsore.  These are the first 4 pics.

The last 3 is my attempt to have both armed and unarmed versions of some of the civilians.  The armed versions are some of those Wargames Atlantic kit-bashes (again, except for the lady with the pistol).  As you can, I got the colors and clothes close enough, but it seems that some figures took off their ties and/or grabbed hats when they grabbed their weapons... :D

I have Empress' new armed/unarmed civilians on the way to add to them...

And last, my civilian vehicles.  They are all various diecasts I've picked up along the way.  I added a couple figures in the pics to show scale...

And that's it for my 28mm "Modern" stuff.  Next, I'll work on my 28mm WW2 stuff...

What a great collection!
You can quickly turn any cheap diecast toy car into a serious looking model with two eary steps:
-do the panel lines with black oil paint
-minimal weathering on the lower parts- even if just a drybrush with brown

Nice looking civilian figures.  Might have to get some of the Specter line.

Thanks, fellas!

It's hard to see in the photos, but I've done a bit of that sort of thing on a few of the vehicles in my collections.  A do a couple here and there as the mood strikes me!

Yeah, I like them.  They've appeared in several of our games...

Well, I've finished building my bridge.  It is a Miniature Building Authority mdf kit picked up at Advance the Colors a few months ago.

The kit is great - it really reminds me of a highway bridge a couple blocks from my house.  The kit did not come with instructions, but it only took me few minutes to figure out how it goes together.  And it went together like a breeze - only took a couple hours, counting drying time for the PVA glue I used to assemble it.  It is 19" long by 7" wide.

As you can see, it will be very versatile, and I should be able to use it for just about any period in the last 100 years or so...the last few pics show it with some 28mm miniatures on it (both military and civilian).

I am working up a fictional modern(ish) scenario for my weekly gaming group.  It involves US Special Operations units rescuing NGO medical center staff and their local aides in an un-named Former Soviet Republic sometime in the early '90s.   It uses Fistful of Lead: Bigger Battles.  It is inspired by the Gberi Bana scenario (SAS chaps in Sierra Leone in 2000) I wrote for the Bush Wars supplement for Force on force.  A little Tears of the Sun influence may have crept in, as well...

The SOF types, hostages, and baddies are (loosely) based on the SAS mission in that book, adjusted for the setting and my figure/vehicle collection.  The medical staff is primed and ready to paint (I'm going to use Warlord's MASH set painted as civilian medical staff), and I want to paint up a few more armed civilians for the local thugs (explained in the scenario sheets below).  Speaking of which, below is the scenario as it currently stands.  If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions (aside from the setting...  ;) ). just let me know.

The actual game will likely be in April, so I have time to get it right...thanks for any suggestions... :D
