This topic is sorely tempting me to break out the modern (well, it was modern 20 years ago) stuff I?ve got and set-up an imagination campaign. Like I need a new project?!

I?m blaming you, Capn Jim?.. ;)

Doug

Modern warfare is where it's at Doug, WWII is just so last year.

Love the AAR  8)

The terrain works really well - some games seem to be afraid to have an open space, but those cobbled streets look like a killing zone  >:D

Glad FfoL is working out for you. The ranges, etc are meant to be tweaked for your individual genres. And yes, Ready can come in handy in the right situations.
commisarmoody, there's plenty of game examples on Wiley Games YouTube channel. We just did a playthrough with a modern Imagi-Nations game.
I actually just watched the video the other day. And ordered the main book. :D

Well, most of my games are in the thirties so WW2 is positively futuristic for me :D.

I don?t have the depth of knowledge of equipment, organisation etc as many on this board so mine will be totally ahistorical and imagination?d

Ah but on LAF the future is the past. It all comes to a crashing halt 25 years ago.

The sixties through to the end of the Cold War is my favourite period. So much happening everywhere and the kit was so much sexier than it is today.

Thanks.  And yeah, I agree - it can't all be terrain.  How are you suppsoed to have an ambush without a kill box...? :o

Now I gotta watch that video...

Streets are just fire lanes that some other bugger has conveniently set up for you. Avoiding them is the trick.

Capn Jim's set ups are always inspirational.

I agree.  That's one reason my "modern" games are set when they are...

Ladies and Gentlemen, it is now time to return our attentions to the former Soviet republic of Balczakistan.  As you may recall, tensions have been rising there, with such factions in play at various times as the US, the Soviets, the Balczaki provisional government, and 2 militant groups (the BFF - friendly to the Soviets - and the PBR - friendly to the provisional government).  Lately, the PBR has been attacking Soviet bases and patrols.  Not being particularly fond of those activities, the Soviets have stepped up their counter-insurgency game and begun setting up checkpoints to try to ferret out PBR leaders.

Our next game, set for this coming Friday (09 May) will tell the story of one such checkpoint, not far from one of the Soviets' bases.  It'll be 28mm, using Fistful of Lead: Bigger Battles.

Here is the scenario information:

As we have been doing lately, we will use adjusted distances/ranges for this game, as well.  They are:

To better acquaint you with the scene of the crime, here is a bit better map:

And these are some street-level views.

It looks like it'll be David, Ted, and me for Friday's game.  Of course, I'll post an illustrated AAR afterwards.  Till then...

That's a smashing set-up sir   :-*! Lovely table that really makes you wish you could have a chance to play! The setting, scenario and special rules all look like they could provide a whale of a time. Very much looking forward to reading the AAR.

Legionnaire.
