As soon as this game was anounced I pre-ordered it. Love the miniatures, terrain and game concept. And all the parts come as HIPS, so nice and strong plastic, produced by IMO one of the best producers of HIPS (Archon games).
So time to start painting then. I started with Orko and Merman. Both were painted in my standard way: coat everything with thick layers of Contrast paint and then add extra shading and highlights. The vibrant and strong colours of the Contrast paint works perfecly for this game, you want bold and powerful colours. All in all about 5 hours of painting, which is quite fast for me. And I'm happy with the results.

Orko

Merman

Now working on Stratos, Man-At-Arms and Trap Jaw. Dunked in Contrast so time for some shades and highlights!

Wow! Beautiful miniatures and I‘m amazed and intrigued by your painting style.
Do you first do a white layer or paint the contrast paints directly on the minis?

quite - great result with the Merman figure. Wouldn't have guessed contrast paints were involved.

Thanks lads! Yesterday it was time for...Man-At-Arms!

And about my method of using Contrast paints. Normally I prime my miniatures zenithally (so first with black and then white from above and at a 45 degrees angle) but this time I airbrushed them pure white. I then coat them in Contrast paints until all surfaces are covered. I usually apply it very thick and use a hair dryer to speed up drying time. But make sure to blow from a distance, or else you might push the pigments around with the air flow.
Here you can see my next two: Stratos and Trap Jaw.

As you can see you have a great start with these paints. There is a nice vibrant and strong shade and midtone and often some subtle highlights too. For the speedpainters this should suffice for gaming I think. I used the following colours:

Stratos: Blood Angels Red (wings, belt and helmet), Talassar Blue (feathers and backpack), Darkoath Flesh (face), Nighthaunt Gloom + Contrast medium and Gryph-charger Grey + Contrast Medium (skin), Wyldwood + Contrast medium (base)

Trap Jaw: Black Templar (legs, right arm, strip on helmet, shoulder piece, left arm), Talassar Blue (skin), Flesh Tearers Red (helmet and loincloth), Warp Lightning + Contrast medium (face, belt, left arm, green things on the legs), Shyish Purple (base), Wyldwood (roots on the base)
With Stratos I used Contrast medium with the greys to make sure he woulnd't be too dark.

If you have other questions, let me know :)

And the next: Stratos. You could see the Contrast only version above...here he is with some highlights applied.

And next up is Trap Jaw.

And the next one finished...Trap Jaw! Such a silly design. But a lot of fun to paint with the garish colours.

Next will be Triclops.

Wow. He came out nicely!  :o
If you think about the later designs (Looking atyou Rock People!), Trap Jaw is actually quite serious. He would not feel out of place in the 41st Millennium or a certain Steampunk Fantasy Wargame… just saying.
