Yes, they are from Warmaster range.
yes, the Zvezda vikings are slightly smaller. Here's a pic:

Looks perfect! of course, I'll need some cavalry to go with them. And here I was thinking I had all the russian/ukrainian plastic I needed....

I've also got an ebay cart with like 8 boxes of Dark Alliance in it, concerned about future availability.

I think the Gothic Cavalry from Italeri fits with the Vikings.

Yep, I'm also considering ordering some DA and Strelets boxes just in case.

oh, good catch!
I wonder if they'll look too big next to the vikings though? According to PSR, the Cavalry set is about 25mm (with the light brown shaded scale model) whereas the vikings are 23mm. maybe it won't matter too much.

EDIT: they might also be oop at the moment as i don't see them for sale

As they are all on horses I think they will be fine next to Vikings on foot. If not, you can just get the Dark Alliance Steppes Warriors cavalry.

If it's any help, the Emhar Vikings are slightly bigger than the Zvezda ones and are also a great set (barring one ahistorical mace!). In the UK, they appear to be much more widely available (they're always in stock in my local model shop). They also have the advantage of taking both plastic cement and paint very easily.

Yes, I have the Saxons and they are good quality though the single spears are a pain in the neck.

BTW, I'm using them next to Zvezda Vikings and yers, they are taller but I don't care. Below you have a picture of them facing each other and as you can see the difference in height is insignificant.

That's great painting, Blacksmith!

I've painted a few of the Emhar vikings so far and they've come out very nicely. They are a bit larger than the Zvezda vikings, but I think they should mix pretty well.

I am thinking of using / converting the Emhar Saxons for peasants / brigands, alongside the Zvezda (revolting) peasants.

Your 10mm stuff is also fantastic. I am hoping to use 15mm for sci fi skirmishing - was the 10mm really so fiddly? The paintjobs look amazing!

I did all this once but with 10mm and I got almost 500 single miniatures painted, but then I sold them all. They were too small for RPG or skirmishes, so 1/72 is something between 28mm and 10mm, the perfect size as it can be used for skirmish and battles alike.
oh yeah, i totally agree. 1/72 (aka 20mm) is an awesome scale that combines the advantages of smaller (10-15mm) and larger scales (28mm+).

Regarding additional appropriately scaled goblinoids for 1:72:

They're a bit smaller than the Dark Alliance options, but Splintered Light has some great Bob Olley sculpted goblins that were originally designed for 20mm - they have big heads so fit well with the larger DA models:

They're now sold as 28mm 'lesser goblins": http://www.splinteredlightminis.com/legoarandun.html

For folks in the UK, you can find them here: https://thelittlecorporal.co.uk/28mm-hedgerows-and-heroes-46-c.asp
I was never a fan of Bob Olley's sculpting when he used to do figures for GW back in the late 80s / early 90s, but I love these.

His bugbears and satyrs are also good, if a little short ('for a stormtrooper'!). The bugbears (now available at CP Models) will make awesome (regular-sized) savage goblinoids (orcs). I'm planning to use the satyrs (Splintered Light) as missile support for larger beastmen. NB, does anyone have any good suggestions for goatmen in 20mm / 1:72? I can find lots of minotaurs, and the odd boarman (Ral Parth Europe Demonworld giant beastman), but 1:72 scale goatmen seem tricky. The Magister Militum ones look a bit too small.

I was also really excited to find Alternative Armies doing Kev Adams sculpted goblins in 20mm size - I used to have a number of Kev-designed goblin figures when I was still a schoolboy in the 80s!

Next on the painting table re Battle Valor orcs, then some Caesar 'brute'-sized gits, then it's goblins, baby!

I also have those Zvezda peasants and they are excellent and I think they mix perfectly well with Emhar Saxons without armour.
My problem with 10mm is that I cannot see as well as I used to.
In my opinion 15mm is the best scale for sci-fi, either skirmish or big battles with vehicles. If you visit my blog you can see there many khurasan miniatues painted by me. Here's one

Thanks for sharing. Blacksmith.

You have an awesome collection!

I've seen so many great Khurasan figures, but they're so difficult/expensive to get hold of here in the UK after the nightmare that is Brexit. We are blessed with some good UK alternatives, but I really wish it was easier to get hold of them - they are fantastic.

I cannot see in their page those Goblins are 20mm. Are you sure they are 20mm?
