Edit: He mentions a riot by prisoners, which brings to mind a rather good film from the 70s of German POWs in a Scottish camp during WWII, the MacKenzie Break. Worth a look if you can find it.

Yeah, they remain the Silent Generation for that reason as well. And it's a shame, the war is underrepresented already and especially in first-hand accounts.
