Source of the cars?

I've been trying to re-find the source but have had no luck.  Still have the box they arrived in but it has a name that doesn't match to the proprietor but address is Princeton, Wisconsin, USA, which does match.  Proprietor contact was Adam Liston.  He had an "invasive tumor" as of about 15 months ago and no idea what transpired from there.

Really disappointing not getting in N scale.

Not only did I almost sell them this week - some time ago I came pretty close to just chucking them out as of no use to me.  Then inspiration struck today and they match up size wise close enough to my 15 mm figures to keep me happy.  I guess that is my consolation for not getting what I wanted.  Would still love to find equivalent in N scale.  Have some but not as much as I'd like.

Hope that helps.

This post is for Cat, the Plasticville hangar with my IJ Air Force:

With the roof off - fits all three of the planes.

And with the roof on through the door.

I've been inside hangars that sort of size, both military (as part of a news crew, though) and civilian (my dad owned a cargo plane a long time ago).

So, this will work a treat.  Thanks for the pointer cat.

Now just need to figure out how to 'obliterate' the toy sign and downsize the doors inside and out - and find some acetate suitable, maybe some with a greenish tint for the skylights.  Have to make some look broken and all of them a bit dirty.  And need to give it a suitable base.  Don't think I ever saw a clean window inside a hangar, just lots of dust and cobwebs that I recall.  Probably an Air Force sergeant is reading this cringing and saying 'not in my hangar you didn't!"   :D

Replacement ruined desert tower arrived today.  Order from Centrion on its way to round out the town and ruins.

The 15 mm and 20 mm towers side by side.  The oversized one goes to a friend since Tabletop Terrain doesn't find it worth it to ship back.

I will be doing a lot more of my pulp posting going forward at this blog: https://carobbeansea.blogspot.com

Yes, it is my pirate focused blog but I am also using it for pulp and, eventually, for Star Wars.  I will pop back in here at LAF from time to time with brief updates.

Ooh, yes perfect size for the planes!

When I was working on my hangar, I found that it took a lot of elbow grease to remove details with my trusty #16 XActo blade.  That's some wicked hard plastic.

Quickly shifted course on the lettering and opted to cover it over with a strip of styrene sized to glue onto the name frame.  Printed my own Vulture Squadron name sign on paper and glued it onto the strip with a very thin coating of Zap-a-Gap.

Printing out signs and attaching them to models is the way to go...! I've done that for a number of buildings.

yep, just design something that fits directly over the existing offending letters and cover them up, a bit of trim around the edge and no one will know..

I've missed this for a while. I really like the buildings, and I'm looking forward to what you do with that fleet of cars.

As others have said, a "wooden sign" of appropriate size hung over the original on the hangar, and you're good. I can recommend The Gimp editing package for that, although it takes a bit of getting used to.

Yes, the sign seen in the photo is fairly easy to build a new sign to go over it.  But there is a much bigger sign on the roof that will take a bit more creativity to make it 'go away'.

Curious how you dealt with that Cat?  I'm thinking some sort of lightweight construction on the roof or maybe just an observation platform.  Can't be too substantial or the roof would 'collapse'.

Primer and acrylic? Or do you want to keep the "plastic" finish?

a tarp, or builders scaffolding (would be interesting for a playability pov)

Just double skin the roof. Plain card or thin plastic card with thin strips if you want to represent sheet metal with panels. Corrugated cardboard  or plastic card if you want wriggly tin. Not the most exacting of modelling tasks. Measure, cut, glue. Every time I deal with an MDF model, it has to be re-roofed. It's an added expense but then again so are glue and paint.

Found a photo showing the roof:

The lettering on the righthand side of the roof on the right are pronounced in their rise maybe some tarps or something will obliterate them.

Too big for my use but looks like there is also a control tower in the line.

Paint the roof with two colours and a blocky boundary between the two, do some scaffolding, some tarps, some paint cans, bits of rope, and the roof is being repainted.

The odd thing about those Plasticville planes, apart from their dimunitive size, is that the actual aircraft they most resemble is, of all things, the Supermarine Swift. The Swift was not a glowing success for its makers or the RAF for that matter and is a bit of a forgotten aircraft these days, although Airfix was kind enough to produce a newly tooled one a few years ago.

Scalpel and some sandpaper should remove that embossed lettering.

Ah, now I see the problem. I think @anevilgirraffs's suggestion would be simplest: have a "damaged" roof with a tarp covering the sign.

Maybe a "gun platform" over the sign? Extra playability as well.
Alternatively, replace the roof with a card version?
