Against the Barbary Pirates 1661 - Play Test
« on: 05 September 2023, 09:58:12 PM »
Have a game coming up for the regional convention that I thought would be amusing in this forum.  Pure historical fiction but fun in an ‘Inglorious Basterds of the 17th century kind of way’. lol

Premise of the game is that the newly restored King Charles II sets a covert expedition in 1661 with Spanish Allies against the Barbary/Moor enclave in Old Salee Morocco.  Spanish and Irish volunteers- The Sons of Baltimore - are intent on razing the town, freeing captives and helping themselves to whatever plunder they can find.  Figures and terrain are a mix of what I have for the time period…with a ‘close enough’ standard for what they are representing.

Using a modified version of Commands and Colors Pike and Shot as the game engine.

Very nice looking game! Barbary pirates from Morocco and Algeria are great enemies to fight with during aaaaall renaissance.  Appart from skirmishes, you can play also quite a few sieges: Tangiers, Ceuta, Melilla, Mazalquivir, Oran, Larache, La Mamora.... all in XVII and usually more than one time!

Cheers

Buildings are from Crescent Root Studios but appear to out of production at the moment.  They only have 15mm now…. :?

Because 15 mm rules the waves!   :D lol

Seriously, a few months ago he did have larger scale, both 20 mm and 25/28 mm listed.  He is responsive to email queries so maybe send CR an email and ask.

The new 15 mm range looks good - but not suitable to my collection.  Maybe be buying a bunch of the Arab buildings at some point.

It‘s a shame they don’t do any 28mm anymore.
