Oh a band like that would be delightful, if sculpted so they fitted in nicely with the Copplestone ones.

Wonder if we could persuade Mr Copplestone to sculpt some Azande harpists http://africamusica4.skynetblogs.be/archive-month/2007-03
(the Azande are near the bottom of the page)

We could have a Congo Battle of the Bands !

There's some of our friends from the other thread there. A couple of pointy-headed Mangbetu ladies plucking away merrily.

I like this one, especially its cute little feet...

I imagine it getting up in the night and paddling about the house making mischief and having adventures.

Time to lay off the mind-expanding drugs now, Plynkes  ;)

Is it made of Sapient Pearwood?  ;)

Since we don't want our expedition of famous Belgians blundering into any ambushes, some Zande Scouts...

T&T calls for scout units of three. Not sure why I painted four. Perhaps a subconscious desire to defy authority? (which in this case means Björn and Chris!)

Oooh very nice, lots of character there. My azande got here last week and I am itching to start them but must stayed focused on the musketeers.  Does T & T transfer easily to Africa? I was thinking about getting the rules at the next show I go to.

Yes! I think T&T rules fits great with the colonial era skirmish battles... and they are working in a colonial supplement

Group shot of the little force so far:

Quite small, though I still think they'd give a good showing against any of my native forces (and I don't really do "big" armies anyway). Just debating with myself whether to add a unit of allied cannibals today, or go back to my Ngoni, who have been neglected a little lately.

That's a fine force you have there.  Very fine.

The scouts really add a lot, very nicely done.

The Foundry miniatures are super fun to paint.  Everyone should have a Belgian force to go tramping through the bush!  Put them alongside some Brits and you have plenty of troops to go up against the devlish Prussians in East Africa!

 ;)

Very nice indeed, I need to look at the options of getting a gun/mg in my force

Both forces (Mors' and Plynkes') are very well done and comparing them as best I can, they would look great on the same table.

I will probably get around to painting some  Belgians in 20 or so years time, which is a shame as they are certainly a lovely army to aspire to.

Until then my Zande will have to make do with fighting the Sudanese  ;)

Please go for the cannibals.
