I did research Clangers. As far as I know, there isn't anything that is the right scale.

Mr Alderman, any suggestions?

Unfortunately not, perhaps I can ask AA if I could sculpt a 15mm pack for them. Hostile natives of course...  ;D

'fortunately not. Either 15mm or it won't exist!  lol

I can ask if I can start my own range, but Gavin said I will have to do a few more projects for him before considering that.  ;)

i.e. 15mm first, then perhaps some 28mm counterparts later.  :)

Would be awsome.

Okay I played a game using the magneticly based models yesterday (will write a report later). Unfortuanly I did not get any pictures, but the use of 18mm models was entirly practical.

My aim is to have the first asteroid battle two weeks tommorow (Rob, Thats Club sunday if your free). I will definalty take pics then and post them here.

Look out for a how too thread appearing this weekend. I need to test finish's for the big Asteroid  so I am gonna make a little one to do that, and reveal my secrets to you all (not that theres many to reveal).

So things pushing forward good in camp Asteroid.

That's good. 'fraid I won't be free, but I would still like to play it.

We'll have to organise a VSF day at Rob and Han's in a month or so. Then I can book it off!

I'll be sending out PMs to people interested.  :)

Had a slight problem with the asteroid today. Not really a problem but fighting a fire before it starts.

Not litrarly I might add, its not like the iron powder is explosive (though i must test that).

When I moved the asteroid down to spray it red i noticed that theres a lot of strain being put on the base of the stand, which is only designed to hold 3 guitars. On closer inspection the stand is only tac welded at its base. Images of split welds and falling asteroids (thoughts i never thought i'd have) prompted me to seek a new solution.

one trip to B and Q later yeilded a £9 parasol base wich, while plastic, should provide a much more stable base. I now gotta adapt the pokey metal bit glued into the asteroid to fit the parasol base. (make a round peg fir a bigger round hole).

Will post new pics of this once ive solved the problem. It dose mean the game moves to the table top rather than being free standing, but I think it will be better for it.

The paintings going well, although the Iron powder ran a bit. I think i will use the "its red weed" excuse. Its pretty much sprayed red now, once its dry and the base is solved i will highlight it a little, then its nearly done.

Still optemistic for a asteroid game in a week or so's time. will post a battle report soon after with lots of pics.

As promised. lots of pics:

Here is the undercoated asteroid with new base:

And here is the asteroid after highligting:

I may add a varnish layer, and the base needs some work but its getting near compleation.

The man in the Mooooon.

Nice stand idea btw. Definately sturdy enough!!!!  :)

I really look forward to playing it. I can imagine sitting around it in a group of 4 or 5 like some sort of weird ritual!!!!  lol
