The lights aren't cheap, but its 36 LEDs for £30.  As you can see, they come in 4 pads of 9 each, but the big plus for this project, is that all the wiring is done, and they plug into a single central point, which in turn it plug powered, with a long cord.

B&Q have started selling them.  You can also get foot long strips with 12 LEDs on, which can be linked up in series (which is what i've used for the hangar bay).  Someone good with wiring will doubtless say they could have done it for a fraction of the price, but I wanted something off the shelf, which was robust, and easy to disassemble, as the wiring will run down the line of the hull, which is in sections.

You need to stop buying pre wired and get component units mate and build them up, it's not rocket science and you'll save loads of cash for other things.

Had a couple of hours free this afternoon, so here are some more photos of the unpainted box, sorry, I mean CIC, as it gets bigger....

Have added the upper level, which is set back slightly, to avoid obstructing the main command station.

N:B - The railings aren't glued in yet, and still need to be straightened a few up!.

Also added the outer wall to the CIC - eventually there will be a whole bunch of terminals/display screens attached to this.

Setting back the upper level, also provides a contrast, as the lighting nicely frames the command level - the red acetate is still loose - will secure with magnets on the final model, but set back to avoid overheating.

Did I mention the doors?

Ian at Fenris made some resin castings of the scratchbuild I sent him - these are mounted on a bar hinge, and so will be able to open and close - need to tidy up the door surround still.

Various bits of tidying up still to do, then will paint the base coat, before I attach the lighting properly.

Please, you start talking about other projects, he'll lose heart, and not get this one done!  lol

Anyway, he doesn't to think about those LONG CURVING passageways in a base star.

Will do ship to ship combat with smaller minis....
 :D

The vipers already have 15 Cylon raiders to fight....once painted up, of course.

In the series, most episodes fall into a combo of:

Fighter combat - covered
Planet side action - covered (Battlefield/Vietnam terrain)
On board ship, assaults, mutinies etc - covered
On Cylon ship/colony

So I've got plans already, to cover 3 out of 4 .... Who knows, maybe I'll make something Cylon, ONCE this ship is built!
 ;)

I've not currently got any plans for shows.

The Battlefield: Arica Harbor game was for Salute 2011, so I had a fixed deadline, which was great for motivation, but also piled on the pressure.  This one, I want to savour.

Also, unlike Battlefield, where fellow Frothers painted up most of the figures, i've also got potentially c40 fighter-sized craft, plus maybe 500 figures to paint, not withstanding the main ship, which has a total of 28' of playing surface, to detail.

Maybe Salute 2022....?

 lol
