Really awesome! Clearly a labor of love. I wish someone could just come out with a BSG figure range for those of us less inclined to spend so much time converting as I'd love to do some BSG skirmish games or Starship combat.

lol

tbh, it seemed like a good opportunity to start on the freighter now that i've got a decent supply of resin interior pieces - the clincher was winning a crate load of AT-43 containers on ebay, to go on the top.

And I was just wondering where you got 4 starter boxes worth of Containers from lol
I love how this is turning out, and I hope that we will see some more before you go on with the Nam-board :)

Thats all for now - I don't believe in drip-feeding my posts to get my hit count up

The Galactica boards are now back under the table while I finish the Nam boards - the good news is that Nam will be finished end of September, at which point i'll rotate back to the Galactica project....

 ;)

Oh crap. I think I'm guilty of that.

So am I, but I find it helps to keep me motivated.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Project - New Flight Pod 19th April (pg7)

Now that Salute is out of the way, and my Dune terrain project completed, I've decided to move a couple of my existing projects along - starting with Battlestar Galactica.

First up, I'm not happy with my previous effort...its just too small.  To put this into perspective, it was 10' long x 4' wide... ok so not small, but not quite big enough.  In particular the flight pods aren't big enough - originally 6' long (in 3 sections) but only 1' wide, with 2 forward-facing launch tubes, and a single lift to/from the landing deck.

I've therefore decided to build a new starboard flight pod which will be 6' (in 4 sections) but 55cm wide, ie almost twice as wide - the new design incorporates 4 viper launch tubes, rather than 2, plus 2 lifts, instead of a solitary one on the previous design - crucially though the added width also means that I can show the flight deck, which I've situated above the launch tubes/lift.

(Photo shows the original flightpod, with the new boards underneath)

The added benefit of the wider boards, is that the launch tubes are now on the side of the pod, rather than the front (vipers are MkVII - OOP kits)

I've also added a 1:48 Viper MkIV to my collection (very OOP - based upon the failed Desanto/Singer revival project - effectively a heavily armoured viper).

Launch tubes will be on the rear two sections, with the lifts on the forward two sections (for viper recovery & to launch raptors)

Needless to say, if anyone has a 1:48 Viper, Raptor, or cylon raider they'd like to sell, I would be very interested...   ;)

This is nuts  - but fantastic - first time read through...where do you store something like this?

My table is currently setup as 8'x 6' - I can fit 3 projects underneath is (boards stacked up), with a fourth project on the table itself.  Currently though the Dune Citadel is on the floor in a corner of the room, which means its still 4' tall.  :D

Have plans to relocate my games room to a new (larger) room, which will hopefully give me a second table, plus extra storage space underneath - my son's main gripe is that while I'm building something we are limited to what games we can run, so the idea would be to have a game setup on the second table all of the time.
