My Tramp Steamer/Bantu Queen
« on: 29 July 2011, 12:41:39 AM »
This tramp steamer is based on a pirate ship hull I bought at the swap meet for $3.00.  I believe it was a Playmobil toy.  It's about 19 inches long.  It took about a month to build.  I had to build a new bow and fill in a the ribbing on the side of what was originally supposed to be a wooden ship.  I cut the hull down to give it move of a straight up and down look to the sides.  The deck, cabins wheelhouse and flying bridge are scratch built.  The funnel is from a bathtub toy I bought at the swap meet for about a dollar. The unpainted figure is a 28mm by Copplestone that I put in the picture for scale.  I used Milliput for the water around the base.  I'm showing 4 pictures so you can see it with and without the Photoshoping of water.

Brilliant - nice weathering and rusting (not too excessive) and the build itself is fantastic. Is it going to feature in zombie games too, or is it stricly pulp?

Hawkeye, the simple truth is I have never gamed.  I love collecting and painting the miniatures, most of which, as you can see by my site name, are 15mm military miniatures.  I've been doing this for more than 30 years and have painted a collection of more than 25,000 15mm military figures and hundreds (maybe thousands) of scenics.
About five years ago, Pulp/Adventure grabbed me, and I began collecting figures and scenics for that ever since.  So far I have painted no 25mm or 28mm figures but I have done many, many scenics for my 25mm/28mm collection  some of which I posted this week on this forum.  I really love the whole Pulp/Adventure thing, and think I may actually take the big jump into gaming with them.  Time will tell.  If you're interested, you can see a lot my 15mm military collection on my vanity site at www.warin15mm.com there are 9 galleries posted at this time, and I hope to have the tenth posted next week.  The tenth is a generic medieval castle siege that I have been working on for the past six month.  It should be up in the middle of next week (Wednesday or Thursday).

I think there are more of us in the same boat than you might think, 15mm. I've built and painted an Old West town for Legends of the Old West gaming, and painted two or three posses, but I've only played a single game with it all. On the 1920s zombie front, I've painted about twenty minis, and a few cars, but don't even know what system I would use to game it. In any case, this stuff is brilliant - on my way to check out your webpage now!
