We had three games on Monday but I don't have pictures yet, hopefully soon.
Anyway, the Zulus suffered from a lack of rifle armed troops (they haven't arrived yet) but did a sterling job of making the British players sweat regardless. Rules amendments have been written to reflect the flavour of the encounter and the finished rules will be available as soon as I have so 'action' photos to pepper them with. more games coming this Saturday too.

in the meantime, a pair of Zulu command stands and some status markers for the British.

Nice!

I much prefer markers that blend in on the tabletop and you are one of the best sources of inspiration in that regard.

Thank you!

I shall resist the obvious comment this time ;)

Very nice indeed. :)

Just waiting on Giles' photos from the first one (I didn't take any of course). Unfortunately the game tomorrow has been cancelled because I have another commitment but it will be rescheduled no doubt.

Got a package from Redoubt today, you'd think I'd be happy, but you'd be wrong. Mis-packed so I'm missing my artillery piece and the order I placed before this one hasn't arrived at all so that'll be lost.
To cap it all the figures look like recasts they're so shitty. Durnford's horse is quartered by mold lines and has a chunk of its head missing, so much for a showpiece personality model.
I thought the appalling casting on the gun crew above was as bad as it could get but I was wrong.
I've no idea why I give these people money. They used to make such lovely figures :(

I think their moulds are knackered, the last batch of Zulu Wars figures I got were poor castings and that must be three or four years ago. They really should renew the moulds. >:(

Fantasic stuff.

Thats the trouble with the Zulu War - you start off with a little Rorke's Drift set up, then all of sudden, its NNMC, Gatlings, rockets, FLH, NMP, styrene Isandlwanas and half of Ulundi  ;)

Some firepower for the Zulus.

The mounted infantry are underway and Trevor from Redoubt has phoned me to say my replacement figures are in the post. I hope to have the final rules sorted in a week or so once I get some photos for them.

My replacement lancers arrived today. Ack! What dire castings, they're going in a pile until I get to a show where I'll be getting a refund for this shit. No right hands ffs! And the figures are the wrong size for the rest of the range as they've been taken from the Sudan range as well. I really can't be bothered any more. No more Redoubt for me.

Sad to hear how the figures have fallen in quality.  Fortunately was never on my buying list.

Hope you find better priced replacement figures.

Gracias,

Glenn

I've just ordered some Empress lancers, I'll see how they match up size wise, should be ok as they'll be a distinct unit. Here's hoping...
