There seems to be a subterranean theme of Gladiators and Samurai running through this year's LPL...  ;)

(I couldn't be happier, as I like both periods/genres...).

Yes, there are too much outstanding painters involved! But it's a Great Chance to finish some skirmish projekts, and that was the initially thought behind the LPL if I remember it correctly.

Thats the idea I'm operating on...getting some of my Armies/Groups done...while pushing my painting skills...and photography skills a bit.

Oh...and having fun doing it!

Cheers,

Yes, I have so many unfinished projects I figured this was a great way to get a bit of progress in a lot some of them.

I also entered for motivation so I could make big inroads into my two main projects, and already I have probaly painted more than I did last year, and by the end I'll have enough figures to start play testing my two projects.

I think there are going to be even more unfinished projects after this LPL. My "I want those figures list" is growing longer every round.  lol

It's not the winning; it's the taking part.   :)

Personally, I don't need motivation to paint, as I enjoy it.  The LPL tasks me to paint faster - much faster -  than I would normally so it's a personal challenge to see if I can turn out five-figure teams at speed, whilst maintaining a reasonable standard.  (Not easy, but a lot of fun.)

This! It's all about how you cut the corners, so far I've managed ok as I haven't felt ashamed to submit my entries. Painting isn't enjoyable for me though, it's 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration (due to agony and frustration). I swear I have gnomes coming out at night touching up my minis cause I can hate the results when I call it a night and in the morning it doesn't look too bad.

Been there before - and vice-versa...  >:(

Personally the LPL has kickstarted 3 projects and got me thirsting after a new scale - and that's not including all the inspirational eye-candy on offer from everyone else!  ::)

I really enjoy painting and the LPL gives me added impetus to finish some units
As I don't skirmish game I set myself the task of painting units or half units (12 Pike for instance) rather than 5 figures

It also provides me with an opportunuity to paint figures that might have been relegated down the leadpile and been waiting a while along with an excuse for buying particular figures for say a bonus round

I love looking at the quality of entries by guys including Frank, Capt Blood, the Prof, Chambers, Dr Mathias and a few other "premier" painters and hope to learn from those

I uhmed and arred re whether I should enter this year but my wife reminded me how left out I might feel on monday mornings if I weren't taking part

I'm also staggered by the range of figures on show that I have no clue that are made or available
