'Red Dawn' remake trailer

I am a big fan of the original but am not sure about this one, even if it has a couple of Aussies in it.

Interestingly that they get a Korean American actor to play the main Chinese "bad guy" then after the film is finished make the invading army North Korean.

The original was a cheesy 80s classic and it had the distinction of being the film with the highest bodycount at the time. In our PC age, I doubt this will up the ante, so I am not looking forward to seeing it

North Korea, huh?  Wasn't there some Aussie flick where they were invaded by some unnamed Asia power?  I think I'd rater sit through something like that then some dumb ass Korean invasion.

I use the original for "man card" trivia. Ask a guy to name a movie that starred Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. Inevitably the will say "Dirty Dancing". Wrong. Every dude knows its "Red Dawn". Turn in your man card.

  Man Card-like it. How about Jennifer Grey and Charlie Sheen? Brian,the Aussie movie is 'Tomorrow, when the War began'. Based on a very,very popular series of young adult novels. The movie is not bad but keep in mind the target audience. Trailer below. The enemy is never specified, in the books China or India are possibilities but the film the invaders are Asian.

Besides Red Dawn they were in "Ferris Beullers Day Off"  but thats arguably a man movie. Waaay more so than Dirty Dancing, anyway.

Well they would struggle to find a potential enemy with anything remotely near the capability of conducting an invasion of the US outside of China or North Korea. Truth told, I doubt even the Chinese could do it in reality.

However, real-world assessments of military capability aside... Wolverines!

North Korea doesn't even have the capability to feed itself, let alone stage a cross-Pacific invasion of the world's strongest super-power!

When the 2000AD comic was launched in 1977, the strip "Invasion!" originally featured an invasion of Britain by the Soviet Union.  At the last minute, the publishers got cold feet and turned the invaders into entirely fictional "Volgans".  The equivalent of Red Dawn's North Korea would have been to replace the Soviets by Albanians.
