THAT IS BOSS!!!!!!!!  :o  :-*

I love your weathering and shield damage. I keep forgetting to try that in my excitement to undercoat models so i have something to paint ;) Next time.... :(

What is your 'dust' recipe for the bottom of the shield? Dry brush? Splatter? Chalk?

The grimey bit is a wash, or couple of washes. Just some GW Agrax Earthshade, a spot of Nuln Oil and a spot of VMC USA Olive Drab to make a murky wash. I sometimes add other colours but that's the simple recipe. Just wash and stipple the paint onto the lower portion of the shield and build up layers to increase the strength of the colour. You can use a thicker wash (by adding more paint or just using dilute paints instead of GW washes) to give a more grimey effect. The important thing is to avoid leaving a tide mark when the wash dries.

Something else that would be easier to demonstrate if I had a camcorder.  ;)

Wow, stippling! Thanks for the answer. I had never thought of using that water colour technique before on minis. Now to try that myself! Thanks!

I've started to do a few retainers to go with the knights. Thought I'd kick off with some double handed weapon sorts as I knew what colour scheme I wanted for them (based on an old colour scheme I used on a knight casualty back when I was a teen). One down, one underway and three more sitting on the desk... famous last words?!

Nice and easy to paint up though so I may well stick to the plan. Might be time to rename this thread.
