Modular Egyptian Ruins [WIP feb 21]
« on: February 05, 2014, 01:40:35 AM »
Here are the ruins we've just finished.
They are a mix of Hirst Arts Temple Entrance [Thanks Naloomi], aquarium decor, Renedra ridge tents and good ole 1/35 brick sets that lingered too long.

Painted by base coating dark brown and dry brushing 2 shades of Americana craft paint sand.

And the a big thanks to the painting crew, Thing 1 and Thing 2;

Enjoy.

Very, very nice.  I'm going to have to break down and visit the pet store sooner or later.  Some of those aquarium pieces I keep seeing look great.

Outstanding!

Where did you find the seated pharaohs and the huge pharaoh head? I have scoured Google, Amazon, etc. and I couldn't find anything like them.

I got them at Walmart.
Last time I was there they still had the seated Pharaoh for $12 though I haven't seen the head in a while.

Great looking terrain. I wish our Walmart had stuff like that.

Awesome terrain and wonderful having a painting crew at that age that are not assimilated with electronic devices stuck to their hands and ears.... o_o

Keep up the great work to both your girls and you!!

This looks fantastic! Well done. Are you having a game soon? I see there is a raised edge to your table. Presumably you are going to fill the base with sand?

Yes I'm hoping to game with it soon.

The Lip is there to hold stuff on the board, are real sand table would be nice. It is part of my modular board.
I have two 2'x4' boards that I can bot together to form one 4'x4' board when I need one that big.

Thank you for all the kind words.
FYI, the sitting Pharaoh pieces are fragile, one took a swan dive onto the kitchen floor.
Luckily superglue works well on it.   :o

Excellent scenery  8) 8) 8) 8)

I picked a 'Nefertiti" head and shoulders in the Dollar store a couple of weeks back, think it is made out of dental plaster or similar as it made a lot of dust as I ground a hidden "entry way" into 1 shoulder - it will be covered by a new section when it is finished.

I will have to drop into my local Walmart!

Thanks for the info.  I picked up 2 of the sitting pharaohs at Walmart today.  Unfortunately, no heads were to be found.  Is the large stone slab/hill something that you made?

The Egyptian stuff turns over fast at Wal-Mart.  We must not be the only ones who like it!
