Wow, this is a great thread!  Very inspirational.  We've been playing a lot of Pulp Alley recently and have talked about branching out and using it for different settings, Cyberpunk being one of them.  I've got some miniatures on order and am working on some buildings.  Can't wait to play.

I have a question about one of the Firewall minis you're using.  What/who is the green guy with the silver head?  I trolled eBay last night and found all of the translucent minis except that guy?  Do you remember his name?

Thanks!

Not playing that much as me, Roon and Jan live a couple of hundred kilometres apart.
But nice to see this thread come alive again....which is suitable because I'm putting the last finishing touches unto another building. It will feature some new things I haven't tried before and it's all coming together really well! Hope to post pictures soon.

@parcival42: it's the Thinker model from Heroclix:

Thanks Mal!  I ordered a bunch of clear Heroclix miniatures and a load of various cyberpunk figures.  I also spent time typing up rules for Cyber Alley based on what you summarized here in this thread.  I am psyched to play.

Also, can't wait to see pics of your new buildings...

Cheers,
Ryan

Interesting update...finished something else before finishing the building ;)

A while back I found an *excellent* tutorial by 'The Wargaming Trader' how you can transform the dice cubes we all have into nice 'ad towers'. Here's the link:
http://wargamingtrader.com/dice-cube-adshells

So I got myself some dice cubes, went to work in InDesign and made me some Cyberpunk ad towers!

The construction was super easy:

1. Print the PDF (here's a link to my designs: http://paintoholic.nl/cyberalley/cubedesigns.pdf)
2. Cut out the designs with an exacto blade and a metal ruler
3. Add some folding marks with a sculpting tool on the backside of the paper. This helps getting good hard folds.
4. Fold the paper and slide it into the dice cube. You don't even need to use glue.
5. Close the dice cube and DONE!

Easy peasy! I thought about painting the black lid, but in the end I think it looks good as it is. So now I have 6 cheap and fast pieces of scenery which look great on the tabletop and add some good cover.
Now to finish that building...

Great idea.

Have you considered adding a lightbulb and battery inside to give it an illuminated look?  May need to print the signs on thinner paper to get it to work.

Nice ad-cubes. I am most likely going to use that one some time. Now I wonder what would happen if you put a small LED inside of them.......

I've made a couple of those ad kiosks and lighted one of them with an LED.  One LED works okay, but unless you use something to disperse the light, you see the bright pinpoint of the LED.  I saw another person at my FLGS make one and light it with a LED rope.  It was much brighter and the light was more even, making it a better design.

Cheers guys! It was a really nice, short mini-project to do between the big ones.
Thought about the LED's but in the end thought it was too much hassle...and if I have to work with electrics I'd probably electrocute myself ;). But I think these LED Tea Lights would be perfect for these cubes. Simple to install, cheap and you can get them in a flickering mode (great to represent old, faulty cubes).

And in other news, the painting on the building itself is DONE. Next step is varnishing, adding graffiti decals and varnishing again. Almost there...
