Another try at War and Conquest.
« on: June 27, 2014, 01:06:44 PM »
After the England vs Costa Rica game on Tuesday evening Nick and I pitched the Almoravids against the Christian Spanish using War and Conquest.

A battle report with orders of battle, more commentary and a bunch of photos are on the Scrivsland blog

I like to look of your armies.
Very nice.
May I ask about your basing of figures.
The units sitting on movement stands,
 are their bases magnetic?

Thanks chaps.

Darrell, I don't own a copy either, I rely on Nick reading them.

are their bases magnetic?
Yes, I use magnetic sheets on the bases and flex-o-metal on the movement tray.

Just did some googling; War and Conquest seem like the greatest rules that no one plays. What's up with that?

Advertising.

They sort of came out without the fanfare of other pretenders to the throne of WAB. Bloody good ruleset though.  :D

How close are the rules to WAB? In fact, how do they compare to WAB and HC, Scrivs? Doesn't seem to say on your blog. ;)

They are quite WAB like but with a few subtleties. I finally purchased a set today so will not have to rely so much on Nick in our next game.

Quote
Like WAB, WAC builds up an army in units made up from individual figures that fight and die individually. This does not make it a skirmish game...

Well, it could, because grandaddy Warhammer FB was/is a skirmish game that piled up minis into units. :P One of the things that put me off it, and WAB.

I did hear about WaC and CoE when they were released, but wanted to get as far away from Warhammer as I could. I can't be having with individual casualty removal in a battle game, anymore...

So what rules do you use?  ???
