Interesting use of beastmen. Why them and not human?

cheers

James

The humans and their 'super powered' brothers stood back and watched as the Tyranid menace consumed our homeworlds. We have no trust in humans, they have no loyalty. Our brothers the Beastmen and Ogryn are equally as mistrustful of humans and so we have a common bond. We gain their bestial psychic powers and they gain our protection through numbers... numbers which have taken many years to rebuild since the fall of all that we held dear.

Our book of grudges has many notes about human failings... oh yes... MANY notes  >:(

I thought I'd write a tiny bit of fiction to go with my army. It just explains why certain aspects of the army are like they are... anyway... here it is:

It also gives a little bit of a precursor to what my veteran Tyranid hunters will look like :) .

And to finish off for the moment... A blog post to go with a massive army pic and a bit of information about what stage the army is at: http://insosworld.blogspot.co.uk/2016/05/the-squat-army-so-far.html

Very nice Army! You will have a hard long way to go, to paint all this fellars! And I´m really curious to see them finished! Which Colorscheme you have in mind for them?

Cheers :) ... something like this:

But in the meantime, I am having a quiet day today so... how about a short story? This is the tale of one of the Squats who survived the Tyranids...

Gah! Still struggling with sleep and not feeling in the mood for sculpting... so here's a bit more background:

Well, I guess it's back to boring old pictures of converted miniatures again :D ... here's a complete (apart from the light-sabre tips) Primaris Psyker... or Jedi Beastman... whichever works best for you :) :

There is a bit of blurb on the blog... including some Pug related fun :) :

It's good to get back to normal :D (whatever that is :o ).

Cheers :)

The final Jedi Beastman (the third Primaris Psyker - you only get to have a maximum of three for an Astra Militarum force) is now assembled and ready for trimming where necessary before the putty-work starts.

I think he will be quite static...

Well, I've managed a tiny bit of progress on the last of the Jedi Beastmen:

And there is a bit of news about how the Space Marine part of the army will be filled up, over at Inso's World:

Ok... I wasn't going to post anything but I am genuinely excited right now :o

I have just received two of the faction starter boxes for the Deadzone game from Mantic... I went for Forge Fathers and they arrived today (each had a contents of 4 Brokkrs, 6 Forge Guard and 10 Steel Warriors).

I have only had the time to unpack one of the 5 strong squads of Steel Warriors but... WOW. They are absolutely stunning :D.

I am sure that I will share more information and pix later but I was so happy with my parcel, I just had to blab about it :) .

I haven't been this excited about opening up some miniatures since I first bought Grymn from hasslefree Miniatures in 2004 :o .

Even at first glance, I am convinced that I will not be able to stop at 20 Steel Warriors... I hope that Mantic ends up selling them on their own rather than as part of a faction starter.

YAY! :D

It's great to put crack in front of a crack addict and see what happens. :-)
Now to sit back and wait.

The wheels have fallen off :(

I won't say too much at the moment because I am part way through assembling some of the Steel Warriors... but one thing is for sure... they are not suitable for my Squat army :(

Time for a rethink...

I was hoping that they would fit into my army without any conversion but you will see from the pic that they are far too tall (from left to right: Squat, Squat/Steel Warrior, Steel Warrior, Space Marine):

I have quickly put together a mock-up of a Steel Warrior body on the legs from a 'sawn in half' plastic Squat (using blu-tack) to see how it looks... and I think that the height will work but I now need to work out how I am going to convert 20 of them without necessarily having to sculpt 20 pairs of legs :o ...

... nothing ever goes smoothly :( .

There are other issues with them but I will sort out a review and post it in my blog once I can bring myself to do it. I am quietly disappointed with them... even though, in their own right, they are nice looking miniatures... just too big for my particular army :(
