Yes, they are. They are the heroic sized ones but I have padded out the cheeks a bit. They are a little bit small but they work well enough for me :

Well... If you don't repainting her, she'd make a decent enough Commissar (or Commissar Cadet) I think?

Seeing your models with the meltaguns also reminded me of something I wanted to mention to you (although I think you probably know already): there are some rather nice Imperial special weapons in the new Tempestus Scions kit that are sized closer to the lasguns that IG normally have. They might be a better fit for you on models where the Marine special weapons are too big? The kit has loads of other cool stuff too...

Special weapons - I hadn't looked at the sion ones but would struggle to get them at the same price I got my marine ones. I tend to go for the smaller ones that come with the Centurion kits. They are shorter and you get three for each arm in a kit. I have LOTS of them now (along with some of the heavy weapons as well) and picked them up very cheaply so the decision was made for me. I quite like the bulk of the weapons because it gives the impression of strength .

The next squad has gone through the 'beardening' stage and are drying now. I think that today will be a lasgun shortening day .

I was really more thinking the Scions' stuff would be useful for more specialist squads like Stormtroopers or veterans for example. And the other things in the kit would likewise be useful for various command squad types (med kits, swagger sticks, power fists, and so on).

Anyway, cost vs quantity is a solid argument - and I did wonder why you had so many Meltaguns in your force!

I like meltaguns (that's the only reason... I have flamers, plasmas and grenade launchers... but Meltas are proper anti-armour weapons and it means my little units have a bit of protection).

As I mentioned, once the Maiden Guard were finished, I started the first infantry squad for the third platoon. I have got quite far but unfortunately the picture is massive so if you are interested... here's where it's at :

This is the current state of the third platoon. I have just got to add beards, packs and weapons to the front 15 and they will all be at the same standard. The front five will be the command squad the other twenty will make up two infantry squads:

So... to keep the ball rolling, I have now finished adding beards to the full platoon which means that next, I will be adding weapons and back-packs (as required) :

Cheers . I do try to keep a few of the standard beards... just for variety but I still have to add moustaches because... it ain't a proper beard if it doesn't include the top lip
