New Update

Another Command Base done-  so that's a Army Command and 2 Sub Generals also a WIP for the first of  Few unarmored Hoplites. On another note I have been reading about the Corinthian War and also the rise of Thebes.

Thinking of make the project more focused on the Battle of Coronea.  Pretty much has all the main protagonists as well as bad blood between the Thebans and the Spartans.

More on this down the track

Cheers

Great work, like the vibrant tones. A fine looking array of troops indeed.

Hello,
Very nice units (and bases) !!
I like the mixed miniatures (Wargames foundry and victrix) on units.

They work really well hey!!  I was worried that they wouldn't but it's given me a heap of variation to play with, within each unit which is great :)

Here we have the 7th unit of Hoplites.  8th is being built and about ready to be undercoated.

I have been looking at options and poses to make a 3rd rank for all the units as I think 3 ranks will give a better look for Phalanx formations etc.  Progress to Cancon is now well underway and I have plans to paint up to units of Peltast as well.

I have re-tasked this project also for building up the opposing armies from the second battle of Coronea, Ill have a little more on the scope for that in the next update.  What it does mean is that I will be doing Spartans and thebans down the track :)

Cheers

They're brilliant, every time I flag with my 15mm Hoplite painting I spend half an hour browsing this thread to get my mojo back!
If only somebody made a bloke wearing this type of helmet in 15mm.

Fantastic look forward seeing both armies complete - I take it you are using Hail Caesar rules wise? Also loved the Viking/Dark Age minis on your blog.

Excellent looking  unit! Great colours across the unit and very clear lines too. A joy to see and an inspiration to paint yet more Hoplites.

Thanks Ross and Golgotha,

I am using Hail Caesar as the rule set of choice.  While I like Impetus, HC as a game is allot more engaging I find. I will Have some WIP's for the next unit as well as the beginnings of the 1st of two Camps as well.

Cheers

Another excellent unit - been watching this as it unfolds.  Look forward to seeing the game in the flesh at Cancon next year.

Our little coven also uses Hail Caesar so we will certainly be interested in progress.

Thanks Mithridates :)  the game at cancon will be geeks and persians and will be on a very large scale considering the people involved :)  My Greek contingent will form part of a large alliance to stop the Persian menace,  After that Im going to push on with Coronea Myself and might rope a few of the lads in to playing it.

This is a group shot of the work done so far, Im slowly putting together army lists as well to flesh out the project.
