Wow, wow and wow!

I'm going to need a good uniform guide but I'm sure the good colonel will provide.

The Duke's 'master plan' for BNI sepoys.

In order that you don't need to worry about hanging back to see exactly what sepoy packs we'll produce, before you start investing in new releases, the good old Duke has decreed that we should make full and frank exposure on what you can expect to see in terms of mutinous BNI sepoys. So here we go...

There will the two core 'types of soldier' you see illustrated here - those in uniform and those in native dress - don't worry about what's on their heads for the time being. Then we divide into two core 'types of unit' - according to pose/animation  - which is to say 'firing line' units and 'attacking' units. There will be two codes of firing line sepoys (8 quite separate figures) in native dress, and two codes, (again 8 separate figures), of attacking sepoys in native dress. Then we will take each of these four primary codes and rotate each of them through three head types - the skull cap, the turban and the BNI forage cap (all of which can be freely mixed in a unit) - to give 24 different firing line figures and 24 different attacking figures. That combined total of 48 doesn't include command figures, of which more in a moment, so is more than enough for you to do wonders in terns of producing attractive looking, dynamic and varied units for your table top - not least if you want to mix in the uniformed types, which we haven't even considered yet.

There will be three codes of uniformed 'Gwalior Contingent' types (12 figures) - 4 each in  firing line, attacking and skirmishing poses. These three codes will be quite separate animations from any of the native dress sepoys described above. The skirmishing code has been designed so that it can, if desired, also be split into two pairs - one pair animated in such a way that the figures could happily take their place amongst the rank and file of an attacking unit and the second pair animated so as to perform the same function within a firing line unit.

Now the command packs. There will be two BNI firing line command packs and two BNI attacking command packs. These 16 figures will be in a mixture of uniform and native dress. In addition to these 16 officers, sergeants and musicians, there will be two codes of ensigns (another 8 figures). So that's a total of 24 command figures to pick and perm from.

Finally there will be one code of BNI skirmishers (native dress) armed with the Brunswick Rifle, as some but not all of the BNI regiments had light companies armed with this weapon.

In all that's 88 different figures....

So, armed with the benefit of full exposure to the Duke's plan, you can derive your own personal plan and programme of purchases and buy as we go, confident in the knowledge of what is still to come.

Of course there will also be gunners, badmashes, irregular matchlockmen, zemindars, other types of armed civilians and so forth...but that's a whole other story for later on. The gunners will slot into the programme amongst the BNI sepoys - so earlier rather than later.

Fantastic news. I´m planning now how to built the different units I would like to have (and they are a lot!), and thinking about to adapt "The Sands of Sudan" for this period.
Or the very good and reliable "Black Powder"...

I'm doing them all!!  :o 8)

I'd be hard pressed to get the guys at the club to play BP as it hasn't gone down very well. Having only played one game I'm not really in a position to comment.

As for Sands of the Sudan I don't own a copy yet though I do plan to order it ASAP.

I wish that I could help more.....

Wow ! Those look great,and the faces,just stunning  :o

Exactly,  not only do I like these for the IM, I want to buy some to lop heads and do some converting.  Maybe they'll save the lives of many innocent figures and produce a variety of heads...  :D

Going to make a prediction on this, I reckon given time and once Iron Dukes range starts to soar(which it will) warlord games will do an Indian Mutiny supplement for Black Powder.
