Bear in mind that 19th Century (i.e. pre modern chemical dye) "white" would mean various shades of very light grey and cream. Lots of room for variation there.

I messed around w some Perry French Ligne a few months ago, varying the shades of light cream for the lapels, trousers and cross belts and was very pleased. And enamel cream is easier to use (less thick) than enamel white.

Really like your painted figure. Well done.

Thanks for taking the time to reply gents, I think we're all singing from the same hymn sheet with regards to different shades of white and grey. I will be doing a couple of figures in the darker trousers with red stripes and I normally paint about 8 figures to a skirmish unit, when I've done the others perhaps I'll post them up in their own thread.

That would be brilliant...I was just about to write and ask you to do some! :)

Makes me wonder if Mike is working on an Indian Mutiny book similar to that of the Perry's? I do not know if this is the case but it would really be something to have such a publication. Sort of like the Foundry John French book but in colour!!  :P :P

As I say, I really have no idea and this is all pure conjecture.

Mike has already propounded extensive uniform and flag notes for our benefit on his site.

I would like to see someone do a book with good scenario write-ups.

Well, off the top of my head, you could have the Brits lead only by captains on a small scale to gain a parity with the Mutineers?

Another idea is to have the Brits suffering from heat stroke?

Or an ambush by the Mutineers- If memory serves there was such a battle(?)

The main problem the mutineers had was lack of central command and were almost always on the back foot as the British were very aggressive and managed to maintian this during most campaigns.

What do you think Mike?

As regards a book- if I can get the relevant information from somewhere I might put my fine Art degree to the test and try to put together a Uniform Guide for the campaigns Mike Snook has chosen to base his range around.

Has anyone in the know got such a wealth of information that they would be willing to share with me?

I would not charge for the guide unless it was going to cost me money but a Pdf or Jpeg guide wouldn't cost anything if I had the info. It's just an idea at the moment and may or may not come into fruition.

Darrell.

I was mostly speaking about scenarios for the historical Mutiny battles. With the exception of the Sepoy campaign, there isn't much out there.
A colored uniform guide would be much appreciated. Mike Snook is pretty quickly putting together the uniform guide on his website.
Getting excited about the Mutiny again. I have 2 other projects that are ahead of it though.

There is a lot of information about uniforms and organization in the Iron Duke Miniatures web and, at least, in three Osprey books. With the years, I have discovered that the excess of information,in the end, is not a good idea, so I´m going to limit my search of information in these sources.

But a series of good scenarios, with maps and orders ob battle, in the Iron Duke Miniatures web could be a great addition to this information, IMHO.  :)

I'm sure Victorian Steel publications promised an Indian mutiny scenario book when they launched the rules last year, perhaps the release of this comprehensive range of minis will prompt them into action. :)

Actually, that's a very good point.... it might be worth contacting Nevermore (Malcolm) and asking him as he posts here quite regularly with the amazing games they seem to pull out of a hat at the Grimsby Club.

Here's a few WIPs still have to do the bases and get a colour for the ensign. I tried to make the figures look a bit battle weary. Hope you like. THE CID.
