Messing with 3d printing - Building pieces. January

Printed a very large version of the normal yet large spider (not the legs yet though) and a small version of the mutant spider. I haven't cleaned the legs up properly yet though.

I'm not sure you should clean it up! You're getting the hairy-legged spider effect for free.

That's a really good spider sculpt. Well done Beefcake. You need to make a rolled up newspaper sculpt to fight it off

Just a little bit more greenstuff in the joins and then on to painting.



I ran out of plastic after doing this guy's legs so am now moving onto the grey plastic I have. Hopefully it should show the detail a lot better.

Gypsy Caravan made with Google Sketchup. I'll need to do some weathering on it. I've done some test prints, One has a big line down the middle but I've sorted that problem. Now I'm doing the final prints for it.
I'm pretty happy with the 3d model. I may use my spider as the animal drawing it along, or I've been thinking about a snail which would be pretty cool. Also need to do the wheels! oops!

First few prints are done. I also did a quick snail sculpt. Took me around an hour to do (after the programme crashed and I had to revert to a previous quicksave) The top floor is the broken version. I'll be making a slightly larger one and it's had some modifications since this first print. The wheels turned out really well. Unfortunately I'm also going to have to re design the roof as the edges weren't making it a solid object for some reason.  I'm also planning on using some brass rod as the axles so it's not sitting as it should yet.

Try reversing the faces on the roof in your sketchup model.

Thanks! That might just work. It's changed to white on sketchup so hopefully should print. Never knew that trick

Yep, had it for about 2-3 months. On holidays now and it's been running pretty much 24/7 .

That snail and the wheels look great! I'm rather envious.

Perhaps using it to create shapes/parts is the way to go, rather than large surfaces which are "easy" to scratchbuild. The brass rod axel sounds like a secure idea Beefcake!
