Surface mount leds are very small, and you can order them from lots of places. So, don't let that stop you. :D

Shush, Jim'll hear!  :o

Still wouldn't know how to construct a circuit with batteries, switches, restistors and all that malarkey.

This will help:  https://learn.adafruit.com/all-about-leds/overview

Now you have no excuse to not put LEDs on it.  Jim will be so happy!

Here's the article that taught me:

http://www.terragenesis.co.uk/infopages/page446.html

And here's a link that will tell you what resistor to use (covers one led but there's a link to a page for multiple leds):

I love the way it appears to be hovering above the work surface

 :)

From the orientation of the front gubbins, it looks more like a CR 90 variant rather than a hammerhead....or something else entirely?

There is a madness to my method!  All will, slowly, become clear.

Nice!  :)
Sometime, in the far future, I will try to light up some of my constructions as well.

That IS nice - I'm still not into lighting up models, but this really is inspiring.  8) 8) 8)
