Otherworld Skirmish Adventures
« on: July 24, 2017, 04:10:05 PM »
Dusted off my copy of Otherworld Fantasy Skirmish last week in preparation for starting a new campaign, so planning to share photos, character cards and after action reports on this thread.

At the weekend I made a start with photographing some fantasy miniatures ready to make some character cards for playing Otherworld Fantasy Skirmish, a great set of rules based on the same underlying engine as 7TV but set very much in the good old days of classic D&D adventures. Figures are Female Dwarf Fighter (Otherworld Miniatures), Human Fighter (Citadel Miniatures), Elf Ranger (Mantic). Location is 3D printed from designs from Printable Scenery and all of the figures have been re-based onto Sally 4th clear Perspex bases so that they will look right were ever they are standing.

Ooooo, really looking forward to seeing this develop!

I've read through the Otherworld rules (well, kind of) and find them quite appealing in that they actually seem fairly straightforward. There's a campaign PDF for it which is much needed, but could do with more depth...... that said it would be fairly easy to add in modified rules and such from frostgrave (I like the adding features to your camp ideas) and Mordheim.

Nice models too, particularly the Dwarf fighter.

Next batch of figures that I've painted up and based are some Drow.

I will be making Otherworld Skirmish cards for all off these for my own use, let me know if anyone's interested in having some for their own games, and I'll make them available when I have a page of 9 ready.

Last weekend Lewis and I got down to a really great game of Otherworld Fantasy Skirmish.

The scenario saw some innocent villagers hiring in some professional muscle to help reduce the annual tribute payable to 'Tiny' and 'Tim' the two marauding giants that visited to see how things were going after every harvest.

Unfortunately the heroes had not had enough time to train the villagers, so they got pretty mashed by the giants and their hangers on.

I guess the only consolation is that their are far fewer mouths to feed with the meagre harvest that the giants left behind!

Lots more photos, and details of game, terrain etc. on my hobby blog @ http://wargamesbuildings.co.uk/Hobby-Blog/Otherworld-Fantasy-Skirmish-game

What a fantastic setup - looks like great fun! The clear bases work really well too. I've got a fair number piled up ready for use - just got to start chopping away at my older miniatures' feet now.

Glad you like it.

The building is a 3D print from Printable Scenery. http://www.printablescenery.com/?affiliates=7

The mill has been sunk into a Sally 4th Terra-Former stream tile. http://wargamesbuildings.co.uk/epages/950003459.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/950003459/Products/TFT05

I then modeled a mill pond and sluice gate. The footbridge is also from Printable scenery rescaled to fit required space.

Awesome game board
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

I've just added an underground passage and cavern layer to my terrain set for Otherworld Fantasy Skirmish.

These are compatible with the 12" square terrain tiles that I used for the village skirmish.
