Been churning away behind the scenes again.  Painted up a couple of horses (for generic fantasy gaming), a fertility idol that I forgot to snap pics of, and this lovely character from Reaper.

Thanks!  I have a cool camel miniature from the Conan boardgame I'll have to do up for him.

in 15 years of hobby I have never thought of doing a miniature with closed eyes.

Your guy looks amazing!

Hah!  You assume too fairly on my part.  I simply don't bother painting eyes because A) you never see them except in random close-up photography!) and B) I can't do them well...and weirdly nothing is worse than badly painted eyes!

They do look closed on that figure though and it makes sense given the pose. :D

More coolness. I've actually never thought of not painting eyes. But I get your point, half my miniatures look frightened, surprised or confused.

A couple of test games today...

Getting jumped by Cultists in the first quest...

And running into a whole lot of baddies in the second quest...

Believe it or not we survived TWO...quests in a row.  Yep, great success.

How many players are in your group of adventurers?  Also, is it gamer that’s in charge of the "monsters" in the dungeon or are they generated automatically?
A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://tistaminis.com/

My playtest group consists of five or six local players.  The game is based around a typical four-hero party (and their subsequent allies along the way).  It is cooperative against the dungeon itself, however...the game contents will actually be suitable for GM play as well.

We tend to play the game with either two, three or four players.  It is technically solo-suitable but I find it becomes heavy on the player to be handling all of the decks/elements/etc.  Two is perfectly fine, and four is always fun.  When we have three players, the most experienced person runs the fourth hero and then if someone dies we transfer control, etc.

The dungeon/creatures are "automated" so to speak.

Thanks for the reply.

IIRC, you mention earlier in this thread that the rules you use are homebrew… or at least part of it. If so, do you plan to publish them at some point?

On a slightly different note, I cannot find gamers where I live and I’m always on the lookout for good, simple solo rules. Do you know of any?

Cheers! 8)

They will be published at some point, and I had planned to have it done by this Christmas, but..that didn't happen.  It'll be within the next year, but that's just because I'm a one-man hobbyist! :D

As far as solo dungeon crawls, I'm not entirely sure.  Hero Quest is being re-released.  Warhammer Quest is great if you can find it, though it's mechanics are a little old school you just get a lot of game for your money there.  Rangers of Shadow Deep is a co-op or solo game, but I don't think it's entirely a dungeon crawl.  I never got to try Otherworld's game, so I'm not sure on that.

Beyond that I haven't run into many that I found scratched the itch.  There is a thread above at the top for fantasy skirmish games, you might be able to toss in a question or two there?

I forgot, I finished up this Wyvern, but I had trouble getting a decent pic of it!

Is that the Nolzur's one?

I've been considering grabbing one...missed out on the Wyvern that I'd found a long while ago that I'd really wanted though. There used to be a feathered wyvern design that was pretty cool, but the company that made it first discontinued it and then vanished since then.

Yep, the Nolzur's model.  Nice, though it has the usual weird plastic which is hard to sand/trim.

Great thread. I’m interested in your game because it seems the heroes don’t always reign supreme and it’s hard to finish some encounters.

Great looking wyvern I’ve been contemplating using some of the Nolzur figures.
