YPU's Epic obsession. Incubi p3
« on: December 05, 2022, 11:44:16 AM »
I figured that with others posting their epic journeys it would be fun to record some of my recent projects in that area as well.

I've started doing demo games at my local club and it seems I'm starting to win people over to the scale. The words "yeah that really is the best scale for 40k" have been used after watching a game on occasion.  :D

So to round out my guard army which I've posted pictures of before I painted a baneblade. I normally run the army with shadowsword heavy tanks but they are a very specialized anti heavy target weapon which I feel isn't very fun for demo games. THe baneblade on the other hand is a swiss army knife on tracks.

Meanwhile I've started painting some necrons, these skelingtons are nice and quick to paint and also so elite that you only need a small army so its a fast army to finish (I hope, I'm not there yet)

So imperial guard, necrons and not pictured here but I have a bout 3k points of tyranids done as well. Obviously I should also start to obsess a bout a army that is very sparcely supported with figures or files, that never even got a official release only fan works.

What I'm trying to say is I started sculpting dark eldar on a whim.

I'm very happy with how these are turning out, so hopefully I can keep my attention there and cover some other basic units for this army.

and my mate draconian minipainting got his hands on the files, blowing anything I could do in the scale out of the water in an afternoon.

Those Dark Eldar sculpts are fantastic!

And liking the Baneblade and the Necrons too. Are they all 3d printed?

They are indeed. I've been trying to get my hands on some real metal epic figures but for now its all from my trusty printer.

They're superb! The necrons are kinda nice too, that's another race I know nothing about.

Brilliant figures and excellent paint jobs.

Particularly impressed with the Dark Elf figures.
There are 100 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary and those who can work from incomplete data.

Thank you chaps!

Funny story, this actually started with my trying to make a raider, then realizing I'd need to do crew for that and then figuring I might as well make full infantry. So yes, that's in the works as well.

At that point level there is also a bunch of stuff that never had models to begin with, so more chance to stretch my creative muscle a bit. Dark eldar super heavies, titans, dropship, even something described as larger than a Tau manta?  :o

Excellent! I could easily be tempted to a 4th Epic army, and Dark Eldar would be an interesting option if you make the 3d files available

The raider is coming along nicely, I figured it was about time to print one and there aren't that many things that need fixing really. I've done the sail with magnets so it won't break off when bumped, it can be a bit thinker even. I think the flight stand net turned out really nice.
