The Rebels are winning both the battles and the information war, as the Corpo reports seem to take ages to appear ….. perhaps they’re worried that their less than stellar performance will attract  adverse attention from more competent authorities?

Unfortunately, the Corpos have to work…
cheers

Nice to get a truthful report, not Imperial propaganda.

AAR Scenario 5. "Escape from Nevarro"

Through his network of spies and informants word has reached Rebel Captain Linta and his small  band of freedom fighters that the Empire is sending a sizeable force to Nevarro at the request of the Corporate Security Forces.

At this stage  Captain Linta knows the fledgling rebellion is not yet in a position to take on the might of the Empire. The planet will very quickly be under martial law and the impending Imperial blockade will prevent movement on, or off world. It would only be a matter of time before they were caught or killed.

The rebels only real option is to escape now using the hyperspace coordinates stored in the R4 Droid they rescued in the previous scenario. From this safe place they will continue the fight against the tyranny and oppression of the Empire!

So the scenario was set: The rebel objective to move across the city, into the spaceport and escape on their ship the Orions Eye with the R4 droid intact to enable  use of the hyperspace data. Renown points would be available for a successful escape, with additional points for the safety of R4 and any Corporate casualties.
The Corpo objective was simple to prevent any of the crew including the R4 droid from escaping via the ship with renown points on offer for out of action results.

This time the whole rebel cell will be in action:
from L to R: Dunga Rees, Groota Belf, Captain Linta, Michi Kang, Bhok'Ko, R4, Chewan and Neera Bhattu.

The table set up: The rebels will enter from the North of the table and make their way south  to their ship in the right hand corner. They only have limited access to the spaceport via the security checkpoint or through a ruined building on the left had side. The main entrance is protected by a guard tower and a forcefield gate.

The Orion's Eye awaits its rebel crew...

An overview of the route to the spaceport showing the checkpoint with guard tower manned by two Corporate thugs.

The Rebels enter the board. This is not going to be an easy escape for them, they have to take out the guard tower and move quickly as the main corporate troops will arrive right behind them two turns later!

The Rebels shoot first! one aimed shot from sniper Neera Bhattu  and a Corpo guard is out of action.

Neera fires again and the second guard drops, bleeding out!

The rebels charge forward but the Corpo Captain enters the table right behind them!

Bhon'Ko, Chewan and Michi, move to the left and take up position in the scrap yard:

Eagar for revenge the Corpo captain shoots and drops Bhon'Ko!

The corpo troopers now enter the fight en masse and start shooting straight away. Unable to move  Dunga is shot in the back and out of the game,  Groota is also wounded:

Captain Linta charges forward, dodging laser blasts he moves up to the forcefield gate and attemtps to hotwire the controls.

Success! The forcefield stops and the route to the ship is clear.

Meanwhile, Chewan and Michi are trapped in the scrapyard, the Corpos concentrate their fire on them!

Its over quickly, Chewan is out of action and Michi is wounded. He subsequently managed to crawl into the building and hide, making his escape later..

R4 hurries towards the ship, beeping and whistling as he goes, Captain Linta lays down covering fire for him.

Seeing his friends out of action, Captain Linta and R4 make for the ship.

The Corpos unable to catch them watch the ship blast off!

Victory to the Rebels!!

4-1  :D

But at what cost? The Corpos got their act together and rolled some great dice resulting in five rebels being put out of action. It was a tough fight for the rebels as they had to move quickly as the corpos were right on their tail. They could probably best them in a stand up fight, but the scenario objective was to flee and there were too many corpo reinforcements coming and the rebels had to get to the ship and off the table before the Imperial blockade prevented escape from the planet. An exciting and bloody end to the first chapter in our campaign.

However with the post game campaign rolls on the casualty chart there is only one true Rebel casualty.... Dunga Rees decides to return to the employment of the crime syndicates in Nevarro, the rest make a full recovery.

The victorious rebel cell:

Safely away!

or are they?!

To be continued.... ;)

At what cost indeed? "Many Bothans died to bring us this information" as someone might have said...

Beautiful game, such great scenery, and it looked really exiting too! Top notch fun!

Another great AAR … much more bloody as well.

Interested to hear how you manage the rebels that recovered from their brush with death…? Apart from Captain Linta and R4 the rest didn’t make it to the ship, so are they stuck on the planet?

So very cool.  Great stuff gents. :-*

These rebels are unstoppable! Maybe the Empire should have nuked the site from orbit?

Love the shot of the transport taking off.

In Galactic Heroes campaign games you roll to see what happens to figures that are out of action. There are various fates which await them ranging from full recovery, miss the next game, take a negative trait, dead and out of the campaign etc. Anyone who survives without incident is back in the next game.

For the campaign narrative those who survived this scenario manage to make alternative escape plans and will appear in the next scenario. You know the sort of thing, there's always a plan B; predesignated hideout location for anyone who didn't get to the ship, rendezvous there, arrange safe passage or steal a new ship, then make contact with Captain Linta, receive the hyperspace coordinates from him  and meet up safely later all in the nick of time before the Empire arrives.  ;)

Just like what happens in the films/series etc, those who you think didn't make it miraculously turn up later with a tale to tell. lol

Such outright lies  ::)

These brave freedom fighters have ignited the spark which will light the fuse as Nevarro now goes under martial law following the arrival of the Empire. It will not be long before the whole planet revolts..... ;D

Credits roll, cue stirring music and the Star Wars March. :D
