Yes - weirdly, they did two huge Middle-earth ranges: an unofficial one and an official one (to tie in with the Bakshi film).

They're both 25mm.

I'm also looking at irregular minuatures but I'm not sure of the scale?

Some places say 25mm to top of head, which is what's needed but others suggest they are bigger?

Yes - those old range have buckets of charm!

Irregular vary quite a lot. I'd say their 28s are really 28s, for the most part.

For D&D, though, have a look at their 15mm stuff. The lizardmen and ratmen are very big for 15mm; I bought a whole load to use as low-level D&D monsters in 25mm scale. They're a great size for that - as kobolds or equivalent.

That's good to know I've emailed them about a couple of figures

I've found somone selling new casts of the heritage stuff but it's a hobby and his site isn't  particularly clear

Will need to sit down with the wiki and work out the codes

They are almost always excruciatingly expensive on eBay, alas; I got my White Hand orcs cheap because they were mislabelled as Ral Partha, I think.

A couple of things worth noting: there are often Julie Guthrie Fantasy Personalities going on eBay for quite reasonable prices (there are a few at under £4 at the moment - probably what they would cost if they were still in production today).

And you can get a classic ex-Grenadier Julie Guthrie giant were-rat (about the size of an old-school rat ogre) absurdly cheaply from Forlorn Hope. It's a great figure and - naturally - fits right in with the Fantasy Personalities.

Oh - and Mirliton have the two great Julie Guthrie trolls still in production. But for some strange reason, they only sell them in their 15mm goblin army pack (they are 25mm D&D-style trolls!). If you are ordering from them at any point, it might be worth asking if they'd sell you the trolls separately.

I always keep an eye out and have a list prepared but I can't see any for less than £7 and they tend to be the caked in paint ones

There are at least eight up there for under £4 before postage (and the seller - Darmok Miniatures - combines postage, I think). Search for "Julie Guthrie".

If you are looking for older 70's 25mm figures try Reviresco or RRB Miniatures. Reviresco is John McEwan's company and he has re released many of the old fantasy figures from the 70's. RRB Miniatures carries Reviresco and has some of the older Akheton fantasy figures. These are sold at very reasonable prices. Good luck with Mirliton and Ral Partha Legacy, they are pricey in my opinion. You can get lucky on Ebay sometimes. A good place to find older figs are wargame conventions bring and buy areas. I have spent the last 30 years building up my collection of classic D&D fantasy figures, and  there are still many holes in my collection.

I've also been really interested in 20mm / 1/72mm Dungeon crawls... something where the models arn't too big when you need loads of variety, but also not too small.

Would you say these oldschool 25's are similar height to the Copplestone Gaslands? or what they call 20mm (actuallly 23-25mm)?
