Coming late to this thread, can I just say how much I like the Ra-headed Victorian officer?
Back from the dead, almost.

Still a bit boring really, I must admit.  Not much in the way of novelty here.  But it is the necessary first step.  After this hull part is finished I need to do the undercarriage so I can then put on the deck.  Once I do the tracks it should start taking on a bit of "character."

And thanks for the comment Steve on the figure.  Five more horses left to paint to complete my Egyptian Household Cavalry unit, all also wearing the Ra helmet.  Photo to follow.

On the news front... finally got my Cafe open today!!!! HURRAY!  Damn, closed for 7 days... that hurt.   :'(  But the sun is shining and hopefully we'll be back to the old rhythm at work soon.   :)

Basic hull is now finished.

Arse end.  Not very imaginative I grant you, but functional.  Hope to put some sort of emblem there as well but not sure what yet.

Here is the "Eye of Ra" that I put on both sides.  To do this I took an image from the net (tattoo image I believe), printed it on fairly good card stock, cut it out to use as a template and then re-cut again on .75mm plastic card.

On to the undercarriage...

Are those SAND-COLOURED GW Rhino parts I see?!? Argh! Envy! To have so many of the old ones to be able to use them in conversions! lol

Looking great, overall. I salute your resolve concerning the rivets. Those side sponsons/casemates look very fitting, as well.

Indeed, I have two of them, which are now pretty much stripped.  They really do come in handy though.

Thanks, Nick.   :)

Actually it was a bugger to do, but adds a lot to the hull.

Maybe put a nice cartouche on the back of the vehicle?  You could make one consistent with your 'fluff', or you could invent one for Ray Rivers (The sun casting rays, above a river)? A personal touch ;)

Ray,
You might think of a winged sun motif, I remember them well from Grateful Dead albums  lol lol, but taken straight from Egyptian art.

Oh how I wish it could be so..   ;D

Dragged off on vacation by my wife and kid to a bunch of islands ran by adult men wearing skirts.   :-I
