Back from vacation...

Lining up a shot in Rhodes:

Having a chat with my drinking bud in Dubrovnik:

Have got my tracks mounted now, but they still need a couple dodades for details.  Stalled a bit on the steering section but hopefully will soon get that sorted out.

With luck an update on the ship will be coming soon!

Quick update...

Have been struggling with the undercarriage but I have now got the basic structure.

Here is a mock-up shot of how it looks:

And here is a shot from underneath:

What I am trying to do is to make an undercarriage that I can remove if I choose (so I can use the model as a proper ship).  The red circles indicate where I will be placing screws to mount the undercarriage to the ship.  It's all very crude, I grant you, but I'm not real great at elegant building.   :)

When I have got this portion of the build finished I'll post some more photos.   :D

Looks good to me Ray, the wheel at the front is a nice touch.
Don't!

Are you planning on useing wood screw sorta screws and just unscrewing them when you want a 'proper ship'? if so woundent that lead to it wearing out kinda fast?

Absolutly fantastic by the way.

Marx?

Yes, a very effective solution to the problem with the track length. They remind me of the wheels you get on steam traction engines so are perfectly Victorian-looking.

 :)

Excellent!  Glad ya'll like the wheels.  Figuring out what to put there was really driving me crazy until I saw a little girl walk past with one of these butterfly push along toys.  You know, the kind that waves their wings as you push them.  Anyway, found the darn thing (3 euros) and not only did I solve my undercarriage problem but now I also have the bits I need for a flying tank.   o_o

Actually, the wood is not sufficiently thick enough to take a wood screw.  I will be using metal bolts.  Like I say, the solutions to my building problems are rarely elegant.   :D

So now I need to put it all together, add a bunch of rivets and we'll see how it comes out.

The track arrangement certainly does the trick (traction-engine-tastic  :D )
