And for those who don't know... you can check out the Venus scenario in the VSF section here at LAF, but basically Venus was discovered to be a highly dense jungle environment with raising mesas where settlements are placed.

So that will need the big circular saw blade fitting to the bow ?

You're not the only one - I obviously overread you making that suggestion a couple of posts back... :-X

Yet another twisted mind...  ;)

I've thought of that, actually, or something similar, however, execution could be tough.  I think it would be great to have something attached to the front and as I have just completed dismantling the tractor another possibility is the douser blade which moves up and down and right and left.

I'll post a picture of the bits of the dismantled tractor tomorrow, hopefully.

Not if it's staying on the Mesas, they're fairly open. If it's intending to descend into the jungle/swamps then it might need cutting blades and pontoons :)
So many projects..... so little time.......

I would go with the tracks mounted to a little more forward and add a single "big" wheel at the end?

Why not have it really egyptian.  Have it roll on logs, like a building block for the pyramids.  You could have a crane grab the logs after the vehicle rolls on them and send the logs back up to the front, to be put back under the hull.

Go luck with the project.

 lol

Now that is something I'd love to see! A bugger to steer though and I wouldn't fancy doing the log-rollers job, even without incoming.

Great concept Ray. Looking forward to the "WIP"s  :D

Here is a mock-up I put together.  Requires LOOOOOTS of imagination:

 lol lol lol

And here are some conceptual sketches on what it might look like:

I think A is a bit advanced.  I'm tending towards B or C.

Given the height of the sides I'd go with 'B'

How about having some sort of pyramid shaped podium for the bridge  :) Almost like something out of Stargate

cheers

There will, hopefully, be tons of Ancient Egyptian stuff placed all over the ship.  For example, on the hull towards the bow I want to put a large "Eye of Horus" plate on either side.  I'm still gathering up stuff from various sources but the plan is to make it very Egyptian.

As for the ramp in the rear... most definitely... for the disembarkation of assault or naval infantry.

To my mind, one of the hallmarks of VSF is untried, experimental engineering. A monster that's too big for the undercarriage seems apropos, especially as I gather this is a build for a client state in the form of the Egyptians.

I think I would have gone with the track centered under the hull, and thrown lots of 'save from tipping' rolls. ;->=

Nothing to take away from the direction you're going, though. Can hardly wait!

True enough!

Nothing settled yet about the undercarriage... so the idea goes on the list.

Thanks.

I've seen your background thread, which I missed before, on the other list, so after a good read, I'll see if I have to eat any of those words. ;->=
