Thank you all very much for you kind words!
Yes, the flames are D&D miniatures fire elementals and I am happy with how they look. In fact, I have purchuased different D&D miniatures for using them for my pulp games.
Matakishi, as Plynkes has said, the boats are from John Jenkins'. They are nice and useful, and easy to paint. I have purchuased his Japanesse temple to use it as a Chinese one, and is very nice.
I was not sure about how would work the first scene, with no villains and the markers only to find the encounters without opposition to fight for them. Almost all games I had seen from .45 rules, and the ones that we have played, were based in a competition between two or more factions, and in this game all the players were in the same side, so I was not sure. Although originally the game was writen for the .45 rules, finally I used Astounding tales rules in this game as I wanted to play all the scenes in one single day, and with these amount of figures, I thought that the game would be faster (but as you can see, I only was able to play the two first scenes), but with the inclusion of some ideas and rules from Rick's rules that I like very much (as the markers for the encounters, etc.). But, in fact, it worked very, very well, because the players, wishing to collect the possible benefits for themselves, in the practice compited in a friendly way for them.
I think that it helped the idea that there were 12 possible encounters but only 8 markers (so the luck would have an impact too in the develoupment of the scene), and that the event of the saboteur could happen as one of the encounters (I used 12 cards and a jocker. Each time a marker was taken, they had to choose one card that had its event associated. The jocker was the special event detonator, but I placed it in the deck only after the four marker was taken). Was a lot of fun... The encounters that they found were very different: from being cheatted with a monkey (the player thought that it was buying an old idol and was very fun, specially for the rest of players), until the white-slavers incident, witch doctors, native guides, the donkey...
A fun idea, was to say the players that the goal of the game was to proof the existence of the Valley, and that they had different ways to do it: collect and come back with physical proofs, or with the film of the expedition. And that I would distribute fame points if his heroic actions were recorded in the film, as the film was going to be shown to the public. This caused that the players wanted to be "in picture" all time, trying to making thing in front of the camera, and gain seconds of fame, etc.... and that was the reason of the final shot of the expedition in the first scene.
Well, as I now have time to improve some of the ideas, mainly from the great work that Grimm is doing in his WIP for Tactica and some other work from this forum people. The las one has been the painting of some 15mm dinosaurs from LKM direct, to use them as compys (I have not be able to get the HLBS old ones) in 28mm. They are really nice, and if anybody wants to know how they are and their size in comparison with a 28mm, I can make a picture.
Thank you and regards,
Fernando
