Wow, thanks Blackwolf. I find your characters, paint jobs and photos pretty inspirational. They are very atmospheric with lovely colour pallets.

Kind words from the sculptor! Whoo Hoo!  :D Can't get better than that!

Chug has had some modifications.

The chassis is plastic, the rear tank is plastic but the front is die-cast. The front is riveted to the chassis, but the tanker was attached with 2 screws, very helpful. Unscrewing the back revealed an easy way to remove some parts (as they interlock) and glue the ones I wanted together firmly with superglue. A few scraps of styrene formed the armour plating and a few kit parts added some detail. I though covering the eyes and mouth in this way was much easier than using GS and sanding it all back.

Cheers
Matt

Been a while that I have checked on your progress, great stuff man.

The vehicles look splendid as do foot sloggers, too.

I guess I also have to get some of those Disney cars :)

That Disney effort looks great with a little modification.

Thanks for the tip-off about the Eastern-Bloc cars too, mate.

It looks like my nephew needs to make a donation to 'Uncle Paul's toy fund'!

Thanks Poco! Ive noticed the TS truck which seems spot on for a NukaCola truck, and wonder about the size of the helicopters/boats etc in the range. There is even a fishing boat!!!

Thanks SerialMoM!! :D Style=Wash and Drybrush. Pretty simple, but it works. I need to learn the layering/shading techniques.

Paul, uncles buy for their nephew's, not nephew's for their uncles ;) Just what would Brian's mum say to you???
Yeah, there is plenty in the range, and early 50's too if you fancy some Cuban gaming ;)
They sell new ones from hong kong pretty cheap with free shipping to Aus, and the second hand market is not much cheaper than those. :/

My Ebay purchases arrived!  :D Here's the haul

Figures are Joe (a 28mm Hasslefree "Joe" on regular slotta base), and Landon Ricketts (a resin Black Scorpion 32mm tombstone cowboy on metal washer).

The vehicles, (supposedly 1:55), have a variety of sizes and shapes. The 'larger' ones will be fine unbased I think, but the smaller ones will need basing to bring them up to the right level. I was surprised how much variation there is between them all and at some of the anthropomorphic distortions. The Porsche is particularly bad and unrealistic - and I couldn't tell that at all from the pic's online, she's way too 'cute'!

I'll try to turn it into a DB5, the perfect Post Apoc vehicle.

Unfortunately the Daytona and the Cop car were owned by some ham fisted youth who punished them into the carpet.  >:(
They will need to be either turned into wrecks or pulled apart/bodged as a static model.

Cheers
Matt

I've been looking at vehicles from that film as well. I do find scales smaller than 1/48th too small for regular gaming pieces, though as terrain 1/56th is passable. Its a shame that a lot of kid's toys are made to fit around that size (ie how big the box is), rather than something practical like something us model folks play with. Bah! ^^

I'd say use those as wrecks so that their size isn't quite so noticeable. Though I suppose with a lick of paint they may serve as some wastelander's flash ride.

Actually I think I knicked the idea from a blog here. Car barricades are quite an interesting piece of terrain that for some reason I don't see so often at events. I'm sure if people aren't cutting up pre-war vehicles for parts they'd be decently served as walls (well if you fill in all the holes). Then again, scratch together enough methane from some Brahmin dung and a bit of scrap metal and chewing gum, and you could have yourself a running Highwayman. ^^

My package from Scavenge Skirmish Survive Steve arrived today. Thanks buddy!!! I had to pick up the fantastic dog sculpts, a multipart survivor with hunting bow, and a few tents. There are a few other items on the shopping list ;)

The service was great, and I'd reccomend Steve's line to anyone.

He even GS one of the dog ears that had been miscast! What a legend!

Cheers

You dont even need that.  I remember reading about how Germans int he second world war had a small wood fire fueling their car.  The wood 'gas'.  Pretty cool stuff.

Glad to hear the parcel arrived ok  :D

Now, obviously, I'd love to see them painted and in game!  ;) lol

Just to clarify for anyone else reading, the GS ear isn't a miscast as such but a pressure fault in the master, caused during mould making.  I have only just been able to remake the mould and so all casts of that particular model have the GS ear, which is talked about in the words and images in the store descriptions.  ;) :)

Off topic I know but here's my two 1:1 border collies, just out of the sea

The black & white bitch seems to spend more time sitting and the red and white dog more time running, hence the sculpts  :D

PS:Personally I like 1/56 vehicles and have a bunch of them, my favourite being the SIKU Unimog http://sss.miniaturemojo.co.uk/index_vehicles.htm

There you go LAF'ers a comment from the main man Steve himself. :D The tents are being based tonight. No messing around here

I obviously missed the notice on that page, who needs to read text when the pic shows an adorable lead figure? ;)

O I know the golden rule is to not mix scales, but that is exactly what I am going to do, with 1/48 trucks and the smaller 1/55 cars. Here's hoping with enough rust they will all blend together and look ok.

Cheers
Matt
