Let me add another "Wonderful stuff!" to all the other "wonderful stuff" comments.  I'll continue to watch for all that will be coming.  Really enjoyed this posting.  Also let me ask who made the Emir and his litter.  Richard

Those Pathans are looking brilliant in terms of brushwork and presentation.....  :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

Getting very tempted to pull out my Foundry stuff and give it a lick of paint.... very naughty as I really haven't got any time to do 'em  :D.

Darrell.

... and presentation.....

Why, thank you. It is really just the magic of a basic display board and some shavings from Betula pendula, your common silver birch. The bark of the lower trunks of old examples of these trees is cracked, thick, grey and rock like, yet wonderfully lightweight and useful. You can knock pieces of with a club or axe without doing damage to the tree. A year later you can come back and harvest some more.

Some more Wazir tribesmen:

The last batch is a mixed bag of Foundry Baluchis and Castaway Pathans. I am not entirely happy with the latter, what with their banana arms and occasional weird, flayed poses. These days, what with Empress new range, one is rather spoilt for choice so I think I will do with those Castaways what the name suggests and put them in the bottom of the lead pile. Perhaps I will eventually paint them as rank and file filler.

By all means. Perhaps I then may drw your attention to another virtue of the Betula family? Their seeds look remarkably like little leaves, indeed almost like maple leaves...

They end up in droves in gutters in autumn (it is now in fact high seasons). I have bags, nay sacks , of the stuff in the shed which I have rinsed and now use as forest litter, flock, vines etcetera. They are hardish and answers well to dye, paint and glue.
